Please read before you allow anyone from SCS Hardwood Floors into your home.

My wife and I are going to have laminate flooring installed in our home. SCS Hardwood Floors, Inc. was recommended to us through a Home Advisor search inquiry. SCS Hardwood Floors has great reviews online but our experience with their door-to-door salesman was anything but great. The initial stage of our in home consultation seemed routine but things took a left turn when we started to ask simple questions such as the ones listed below.

1. What is the warranty for your product?
2. Who is the manufacturer?
3. How thick is the laminate?
4. Do you have laminates with different textures than the samples you brought to our house?
5. Does the price you're quoting include a vapor barrier and padding underlay?

I earned a living for 5 years of my life as a salesman. These are the type of questions one would expect any informed customer to ask. The salesman measured our rooms and began to calculate how much installation would cost. He quoted his figure and I asked him "do you have any laminates at a lower price point?" This is a question I always ask, regardless to whether I'm going with the initial offer presented (I like options). As soon as I asked him about laminates at various price points other than the samples he brought to my house, the salesman said to my wife and I "I'm going to start to put my samples in the car." My wife was still on the floor looking at the samples.

He abruptly collected his samples and slammed my front door without shaking my hand or saying my company will be in touch with a written quote. Even if SCS Hardwood Floors Inc. company doesn't write a formal quote on the spot (I understand some companies don't), he could have at least shook my hand before he left my house (even if he felt as though he didn't close the sale). I usually do not write online reviews. However in this case, I figured he earned it the moment he stormed out of my house and slammed the door.
