People tend to rate the busine...

People tend to rate the business person, but there isn't a place to rate the clients, when you run a business - to warn other business owners. After many years of experience, when a client calls, it is second nature, you know what they are about in the first few minutes of conversation. Clients pull anything and everything - and then there are the really "great clients" who make up for the other type. The "I want an estimate for an insurance claim", is a 99.9 % sure shot that you are going to spend 2+ hours for nothing. Most of the people asking for an insurance claim know they have no intention of hiring the contractor for the job. And after 100 or 1,000 of them, your not interested, nor with gas prices what they are, can you afford to be running a non profit charity.

I am an Interior Designer and have worked with Mike Pezzino on jobs for 10 years, he takes his business very seriously, and puts his whole heart and soul into his work. He's business is based on repeat customers, and they stay with him over the years, and call him each and every time they need work completed in their homes. As a business owner, even if you are very passionate about your work and your clients, you still get a % of crazies each year. Believe me, company owners have as many or possibly more stories to tell about "0" star rated clients. If you are checking into "Pezzino Painting & Wallcovering", from what I've personally witnessed over many years, Mike Pezzino is someone you can count on.

Owner accused me of using him and hung up phone

Potential Customer,

I called Mike Pezzino for a free estimate which he offers. This was for a rental property which was damaged by renters. He gave me an quote over the phone but never a written quote even after leaving him two phone messages asking for it. I called him a third time asking for him to please call me back. He called me back and I explained that I was going to court and would need his written estimate and that if (when) I won I would like him to start on the job. He immediately started accusing me of wasting his time stating that I am just like everybody else who just wants his free quote so they can sue or turn it in on insurance and never hire him to do the work. I had EVERY intention of hiring him to do the work but did not have the money up front to do so. I have two brothers-in-law that are painters and I could have used one of them for a free estimate but I know the large companies they work for charge rather high hourly rates so I had a better chance of winning (and hiring) with an individual instead of a large company (and my brothers-in-law are too busy in their spare time for such a large side job). I started to tell Mike that I couldn't believe he was accusing me of such a thing and he hung up the phone on me. I can not believe the treatment he gave me. I'm more upset about the accusations than I am about him hanging the phone up on me. But either way, this is NOT the type of person I want working for YOU.

Business (Mike),

Most companies do offer free estimates and that usually means a written estimate. You really should consider each potential customer as just that ... and not some user that is trying to waste your time. I don't know you have such a huge chip on your shoulder. I am really hurt at the accusations you threw at me. Please be more respectful to the next potential customer.
