In 1996, Tom Moen Jr. and a fellow ironworker founded Moen Steel Erection and began providing steel construction services. The company and its subsidiaries offer a range of construction services. Moen Steel Erection specializes in raising steel structures, with Heartland Crane Services and All American Rigging handling other contracts. Based in Omaha, Moen Steel Erection added Heartland Crane Services in 1998 and All American Rigging in 2003. Heartland Crane Services operates a crane rental fleet and handles indoor and outdoor storage, machinery moving and plant maintenance. All American Rigging specializes in heavy equipment moving, tank transport and placement, custom rigging and material-handling projects. Combined, they employ nearly 100 full-time employees. Moen Steel Erection has completed many projects throughout the Midwest.
