Omaha Power Yoga, to me, is a safe place to be real and honest and vulnerable.



there are no mirrors, there are no clocks.

because yoga isn't about how the pose looks, it's about what you feel.

it's about awareness of mind and body and connecting through breath.

it's about equanimity. and acceptance.

it's about 'now'.



I entered Omaha Power Yoga nearly a year ago using a Groupon, figuring if I hated it I was only out $20.



I'd never done "yoga" before, partly because I was intimidated by the perfection I saw in everyone else. because I judged and convinced myself pretty easily that I didn't belong.

(also partly because I had an impression that yoga was just a variation of Jane Fonda 80s flailing aerobics in fancy boutique spandex instead of thong leotards.)

and I especially didn't want some soft-spoken-new-age-hippie-tree-hugger to try to mentally coax me into some manufactured sappy, happy place. because that just isn't reality.



I've wanted, NEEDED, to be confronted with anything and everything I've been storing away.

I've needed to acknowledge it, feel it, breathe it, and release it.

and this is it. this is how.

I face physical challenges in every class. I learn to accept exactly where I am. and then I grow.

I face mental challenges in every class. I learn to accept exactly where I am. and then I grow.

and then quite on accident it becomes a very profound experience.



Jeff is passionate about what he teaches. he is unconventional and refreshingly genuine.

he teaches the yoga I've been waiting for.

I'm not easily offended nor take things too seriously; this life is just too short.

but if Jeff's style doesn't quite match yours, try one of the other 5 teachers on staff. They all have extensive knowledge and really good energy to share.

I have done yoga for 5 years and decided to try this new place and never had a such unprofessional yoga teacher. Where do I start? Let's just say besides sexually harassing students while "correcting them," he also made derogatory homosexual comments, used foul language, and criticized students. He made comments like "What? Wer'e you abused as a child?!" And other comments so inappropriate I would rather not say. I never thought I would ever encounter such an inappropriate, vulgar, critical, judgmental, and harassing person in the yoga world but I did and it truly makes me sad because a yoga environment is supposed to be an uplifting experience. It truly makes me appreciate the other wonderful yoga studios Omaha has to offer.
