It was a pleasure to work with David and his crew! We had a difficult schedule due to other contractors needing to complete work before the painting could start. Bad weather and the holidays made scheduling even trickier, but David was a able to work with us and fit in the slot we had, and be able to work around other contractors also on-site. We also had an additional constraint that the house be in a showable state for an appraisal at the end of each day. Despite all of these constraints, David and his crew were able to finish the job, and a day early at that. It was a pleasure working with them, and I would do so again!

With hopes the following litany will save friends and neighbors in Mason and Thurston counties the frustrations, the delays, the promises broken, and ultimately, poor workmanship; I outline my experience with Montgomery Painting LLC.
I should have known better. I really should have known when David Montgomery was hours early for the initial meeting to see my house in Tumwater. This has always proved indicative of people that have no consideration of other people’s time.
Another cross-county drive to meet David Montgomery and get a bid. His bid was several hundred dollars less than the other two, and most important at that time, he was able to start the following week. Both my friend and I thought David sounded competent and professional. This was the week of August 6, 2018. The contract was made. Pressure washing would begin Friday, August 18, with paint the following week.
We were wrong.
This house in Tumwater is rented to a great tenant. To ensure she was not inconvenienced, all correspondence and phone calls affecting scheduling were copied to her; dates and timing approved.
August 8, email: #1 — Me to David — paint colors and paint numbers.
August 27, email: #2 — Pressure washing delayed to September 15 — DELAY 1
September 16, email: #3 — Me to David — ? revised schedule? No show Montgomery Painting LLC, September 16 — DELAY 2
Excuses for delays included, pressure wash guy on vacation, needing a deposit, then an email with statement attached — bid price increased $900.00. (Later corrected)
September 28 email — David to me — washing next week. — DELAY 3
September 30 email: — David to me — washing on the 5th (Oct).
Messages to/from David announcing delays for days that became weeks, and finally months totaled 47 emails.
Montgomery Painting LLC announced with a 4:00pm.phone call, that the painting was complete and payment in full was required. The front porch railing and pickets were unpainted, plastic screens were not installed, and even in the waning light, I could see holidays in the grey trim. That was October 10, 2018.
David Montgomery said the front railing and pickets was not included in the bid. (?) This was new to my experience. Both other two bids included the entire house.
This railing and pickets is neither a garden nor dog fence; it is along the stairs to and bordering the front door.
On October the 18th, I walked the job with my regular painter to get an estimate on finishing the front porch railing. He also pointed to multiple holidays on the base coat.
Estimate: Railing pressure wash, sand and paint: $1200.00. Actual cost was $1000.00
October 18, email — Me to David — “After 42 years in the industry you must recognize this as a rush job and far less than your best work”. I asked for reimbursement for the required extra work to finish the job. After another month and many emails, he agreed to pay me half ($500.00).
Even with that, Montgomery Painting LLC was the most expensive of three bids with the longest start time. This has been the most frustrating, exasperating experience I have had with a contractor.
Am I still waiting for Montgomery Painting’s promised reimbursement?

Thank you, David & crew for an outstanding job on our formerly ugly house! David Montgomery came immediately after I called to get an estimate; we had the estimate I think by that same night; the crew showed up exactly when scheduled, treated our house and plants with thoughtful care, carefully painted and beautified our home, and cleaned up completely after they were done. Not only that, they were friendly, polite and very patient with me when I asked questions. We definitely recommend Montgomery Painting and are very happy with the results.

We were pretty worried, because we only had one day of good weather to paint the exterior of our house. David sent 7 guys to get the entire thing done in one day! The guys did great work, cleaned everything up, and were very courteous as well. Thank you!

David and his crew were thorough and professional. We had the interior, exterior and fence painted. The crew washed and prepped the fence and exterior and did a super job. The following week they painted inside from ceilings to base boards and did a wonderful job. I would recommend them without any hesitation. Thanks!

Entire job from estimate to completion was done in a professional and timely manner. Dave personally attended to every detail. Great crew and work ethic. We are delighted with the results and the compliments from the neighborhood. We highly recommend Montgomery Painting.

Beautiful job from the prep work (pressure washing with bleach) the exterior paint job to the cleanup. When I called David he came out immediately and gave me an estimate. In 2 1/2 days my two story house was painted. I would definately call Montgomery Painting again when I am ready to do some interior painting. I would recommend David and his crew to my neighbors and friends!

David and his team were professional, timely, and did a fantastic job. We've been doing A LOT of reno projects on this home and it is hard to find craftsmen who take this much pride in doing such a great job. Highly recommended!!

Dave and his guys did a great job painting our home and shed. I appreciated their attention to detail. On the 2nd day of painting trim, the microburst storm hit our area and the guys came back after the rains to make everything right. Much appreciated!

Dave and his crew did a great job painting our house. They had to put a lot of paint on because our house was very thirsty. They also pressure washed the house before painting. Our house hasn't ever looked this good. We are very happy with their services and would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone.

The Montgomery experience began with power washing the house - including cleaning out the gutters! Then a week later David and his crew of four arrived on time and ready to work. Great attention was given to detail - caulking where needed,covering windows and fixtures, protecting plantings, and cleaning up. Amazingly, the whole process was completed in one day. David is unusual in one other respect - he answers his phone, or if a message is left, he returns calls promptly.To sum up - they came, they painted, they left. Just what a customer expects from a professional contractor.

The Montgomery team did a superb job on the exterior of our newly constructed barn. We appreciated the detail on masking off areas we wanted to keep in original form and keeping paint off the ground and concrete. the work was quickly done and accommodated or schedule. Even some difficult areas were done well. And the paint itself was flawless.

Dave and his crew just completed an outdoor paint job on a small condo. They did a fantastic job, showed up when they were supposed to, cleaned up so nice that no one would know they were there. Painting looks fantastic, price was excellent. Being a small condo association, he spent time with the owners to answer questions, etc. Can't say enough good about his customer service!!
