The staff at Charlwell are wonderful. You can tell how much they care about all of their residents. I was glad I took the time to tour!

Dear K M. - I too have a close family member residing in Unit 'C' at Charlwell House. Truly sorry to hear of your grandmother's passing. I may have met her on occasion. I believe everything that you have reported. So many folks have died as a result of inferior care. I blame MANAGEMENT. There is no accountability. I would welcome the opportunity to chat with you more about your experience.

My grandmother was in the Charwell House in Norwood, MA for about a year until she passed away. If I had my way I would have taken her out of there right away. The staff was rude to me on my very first visit when I asked for a tour of the facility. She had to wait over 20 minutes to be helped in the bathroom & on the rare occasion that they responded in a timely manner the aids acted put out to have to help. It got to the point that when I was there I helped her myself. Most of the nurses were too busy chatting it up at the nurses station to bother with the residents or the families concerns. The less mobile residents were parked at the nurses station and ignored for hours because the aids and nurses didn't want to do their jobs & check on them. In their rooms or in other areas of the facility. This way they could "watch" them and not miss the latest gossip or tv show. One male nurse in particular was arrogant and sarcastic on a regular basis. The place is outdated & smelled awful on some days. My grandmother passed away in large part due to their negligence. They did not address her serious health issues soon enough & this was after family insisted many times that something was seriously wrong. They could not be bothered. One nurse when asked to help stated her shift was over in 10 minutes so she couldn't help. & to ask someone else. Everyone at the nurses station was too busy watching TV. By the time 911 was called it was too late. They have not bothered to reach out to the family at all. They know they are guilty. If you want your loved one to be cared for properly DO NOT send them to the Charwell House in Norwood, MA. They should be shut down! They get negative stars from me but I didn't have the option on here.
