United Storage Norwalk is part of a new philanthropic development at 80 Fair Street, a unique project recently completed by Connecticut-based developer Building and Land Technology (BLT) in which all profits are donated to Norwalk area charities. The project includes a new four-story apartment building with 59 one and two bedroom flats and a 355-unit climate controlled self-storage facility.



“80 Fair Street was intended to be an affordable housing project that was going to be completed by the Human Services Council of Mid-Fairfield County,” said Carl R. Kuehner, III, President and CEO of Building and Land Technology. The affordable housing plan was derailed when a neighboring property owner, sued the Human Services Council because the project would block the view of its signage from Route 7. “We were approached by the City of Norwalk and asked to acquire the land in order to help the City complete the affordable housing project. We agreed to do it because we understand the need for affordable housing in lower Fairfield County is great. And we completed the housing units without the benefit of CHFA financing,” commented Kuehner. To fund the development BLT constructed the self-storage project adjacent to the apartment building and consistent with the original intent for this project, BLT is donating all profits from the self-storage facility to Norwalk area charities. To this end, BLT is encouraging businesses and members of the Norwalk community to support this philanthropic effort and choose United Storage Norwalk for their business and personal storage needs.
