A good old school hardware store. I showed up with a broken piece I didn't even know the name of and the owner identified it and had me on my way in 5 minutes for under $10. Very knowledgeable,

Great service. The owner is always behind the counter ready to help and answer whatever questions you might have.

Carlyn is an old-school mom & ...

Carlyn is an old-school mom & pop hardware store. The proprietor can be a little taciturn but he really knows his stuff. Some of the prices are a little higher than a big box store like Home Depot, but when I compare the amount of time I spend looking for stuff there - and the frustration of talking to Home Depot employees who know next to nothing about hardware - it's well worth paying a little extra. Out of dozens of trips for a huge variety of things, Carlyn's has never not had exactly what I needed, and never failed to understand exactly what I was talking about (even though I often didn't know the name for the part or tool myself). So what's it gonna be, 30 minutes at Home Depot with smiling, fawning or simply clueless employees who are well trained in customer service but don't know a bolt from a volt? Or 5 minutes with the guy who is a real professional and won't waste your time?

Awful Customer Service

Whomever he is that answers the phone SUCKS big time. He sounded lazy, and had no customer service skills. With the way the economy is these people should be as civil or nice as possible because there are so many other hardware stores in the area. This guy was a pure idiot. He was acting like I was interupting him doing his customer service job by actually asking him for a product. I needed more than $200 in product but I will drive a little further for what I need rather than give that idiot my money. Carlyn needs to get a real customer service team as opposed to a crabby cashier that hates customers.
