Skip the dining room and just order dessert at the take-out bakery in the lobby. The staff is rude, the service is slow and terrible, and the food is nothing to write home about. Gregg's has good desserts and is essentially a good bakery squeezed between a diner and a bar. The North Kingstown location has been dying on the vine over the past few years. Gregg's has very little competition in NK b/c there are not many restaurants in that part of South County. They are located off a major highway and they seem to be morphing into a roadside greasy spoon.

North Kingstown location has terrible service, rude servers, and the dining rooms are not very clean. The food is about the quality one would expect from a diner.....edible and fills the gut, but far from gourmet. The eclairs, pastries and cakes are very good and are a little pricey, but a nice treat. The food is definitely not worth the price and the dining experience is very irritating.

I have grown up in RI and Greg...

I have grown up in RI and Gregg's is a very well known restaurant to me and my family. I eat food from Gregg's at least once a month. This past weekend I ate at the North Kingstown location with my fiance Saturday night. We went for dinner and I ordered a chicken cutlet club. A few bites into my meal I noticed that my lips were burning and starting to swell. I immediately stopped eating and tried to figure out what could be on my plate that I could be having a reaction to. When the waitress walked by my fiance asked her if by any chance they cook their chicken with seafood. She stated " yes we cook chicken and seafood in the same fryer ". She asked why...I told her that have a shellfish/seafood allergy and told her that I was having an allergic reaction to the fried chicken that was in my club. As I started to frantically look for Epi-penl in my bag my fiance went to find the manager. He asked her if it was common practice to cook both chicken and seafood in the same oil. She answered " yes". He told her that I was having an allergic reaction to the chicken I had ordered. She asked him if I told the waitress that I had a seafood allergy. His reply was " why would she if she ordered chicken " ? She basically told him that it was my fault that I was having a reaction and that I needed to be more careful when I was ordering. You would think that a restaurant that has been around for many years and has the reputation that Gregg's has the staff and management would of been a little bit more understanding. They never asked me if I was ok, never offered to take my meal off the bill...since I couldn't finish it to begin with, never offered me a dessert etc. They waitress came over and told me that if I had told her that I had an allergy that she would of told me to order grilled chicken. She put the bill on the table and started to walk away. The lady at the next table came over and handed me two Benadryl. She said she heard our conversation and she made sure that I was ok. I personally think that it is an unsafe practice to cook chicken and seafood together because of peoples allergies. I called all 4 Gregg's locations and they all cook this way. So for all you people out there with seafood allergies DO NOT EAT AT GREGG'S since you most likely will have a reaction and they really won't care. Maybe I should of called 911 from the dinning room and channel 6, 10 and 12 while on my way to the ER......maybe I would of gotten a "sorry are you ok " ?

Good food, Good service, Great Deserts!

Gregg's Resturant is a staple of Rhode Island. There are daily specials one can choose from, along with the multiple choices from the every day menu. Food is good and price is reasonable. Menu is an all round menu from Meat, vegtable & Potatoe to Pasta to Sandwiches, to lighter fare meals for the weight watcher diner. Service is always good.

Known for their awesome deserts, select a desert after your meal, or order a cake for a special occasion - you won't be sorry! I recommend yellow cake with chocolate frosting for a birthday cake, and any cheesecake selection (especially strawberry!), as the cheesecakes are to die for!!!!
