Established in 1983, HART United is a private, nonprofit organization that provides support services for individuals with developmental disabilities throughout Connecticut. It empowers developmentally disabled individuals and their families to have more choices and opportunities in the community. The organization offers a variety of community training, education, and community and assisted living arrangement programs. It provides financial support, family counseling, consulting, rehabilitative, and hospice and respite care services. HART United offers support services in various settings to more than 200 individuals. The organization is a member of the Connecticut Association of Nonprofits, CT Community Providers Association and Quinnipiac Chamber of Commerce. HART United receives funding from the Department of Developmental Services and is located in North Haven, Conn.
