Virginia International Terminals, established in 1982, is a nonprofit affiliate of the Virginia Port Authority. It operates four state-owned general cargo facilities, including Norfolk International Terminals, Newport News Marine Terminal, Portsmouth Marine Terminal and the Virginia Inland Port in Warren County, Va. The company offers services to various shipping companies, including ocean carriers, truckers, railroads and shippers. It operates a cargo division that offers loading and unloading services for trucks and railcars. Additionally, the division coordinates warehouse storage and cargo fumigation. It also operates a container division that offers documentation services for containers entering and exiting the terminal. Its rail division offers loading and unloading of intermodal containers at the on-dock rail facility. Located in Norfolk, Va., Virginia International Terminals also organizes training programs for equipment operators of dock side cranes, rubber tire gantry cranes, straddle carriers and other heavy equipment.
