He is a doctor that realizes the blood work ( TSH, T3, T4) are not the only factors for low thyroid.My 22 yr old was terribly sick for a year with hair falling out, dry scabbing scalp, sleeping 12 hours a day, depression, no periods for over a year etc. The endocrinologist she saw said herblood work was borderline low and would not treat her. He just gave her and antidepressant ! As soon as Dr. Blanchard put her on thyroid replacement-- she was back to her old self in a month!!!! He doesn't take insurance and it's hard to get an appt with him -- but keep trying if you feel that you have a thyroid issue. They just dropped the TSH considered norm so more people will be included in the " low" --- but they need to rely on symptoms too!
