I have never been treated rudely by cashiers or made to feel bad about not bringing my own bags. I love Trader Joes, healthy food at fair prices. I get to try lots of different foods and don't spend much. There milk is cheaper than many grocery stores.

yes plastic bags are environmentally damaging. we don't experience even a fraction of its damaging effects since we export our trash to 3rd world countries to be recycled in a toxic process. trader joe's operates its business that follows a mission and vision of healthy foods and sustainable lifestyle available at low prices. the small floor space and stingy bagging reduces its costs, and ultimately saves you a few bucks.



oh and ripe fresh vegetables do rot quickly. thats why its called fresh produce. go buy raw flavorless GM produce from your traditional supermarket.

The grocery store that offers more than groceries. It is catering to a health oriented demographic, yet staffed by very rude people (the cashiers).



Don't be afraid to bring back an item that is spolied (cucumbers, potatoes purchased here seem to last only one or two days. Be careful to check your frech food items before leaving the store or as soon as you get home!) They are good at letting you bring back any item you are not satisfied with.



They are horrible baggers.



And very stingy about double bagging. The paper bags rip easily, so we use double bagged plastic. But, more than once, I and my wife were reprimanded about how awful for the enviornment plastic bags are. What? Then why do you offer them?



Don't go on a week end. Very crowded and very tight aisles.
