Piedmont Newnan Hospital's Infusion Center provides a warm and comforting environment for individuals undergoing infusion therapy for a medical condition. An infusion is a procedure that delivers a medication into a person's bloodstream, such as chemotherapy, biological therapy, blood transfusions, nutritional therapy or other therapy. Chemotherapy may be used alone for some types of cancer or in combination with other treatments such as radiation or surgery. Our medical, surgical and radiation oncology teams work collaboratively to provide seamless care should a multidisciplinary approach be needed. Because there may be side effects during treatment, our team helps you anticipate and understand these side effects in advance with the goal to prevent these symptoms from occurring. We are committed to creating the best care experience for our patients. As infusion specialists, we focus on the continuum of care with our patients and view their medical history, monitor lab levels and evaluate the medication delivery system for each patient. We also communicate with the physicians, home health nurses, hospital providers and other services that are involved in each patient's healthcare. In addition to facilitating IV treatments, we teach patients how to care for themselves during therapy so they can be active participants in their own healthcare.
