Life Extension.

I have a Barnes and Noble (B&N) nook HD Plus. The battery went bad. Note this was just before I discovered the superiority of Amazon’s Kindle devices with its superior content and support. For the nook, I called B&N. I realized that the standard warranty was expired so my goal was DIY for the battery. B&N’s response was first, the battery is not replaceable. Second, support was no longer offered for my device. And third, I got a hard pitch to turn in my device as a trade-in for their newer Samsung devices. Now I’m aware of catastrophic lithium battery failures such as “thermal runaway,” which is an industry standard term for battery fires. However, besides the lack of support from the nook’s sellers, I still like its size, esthetics, interface, and have a substantial e-library, all before I upgraded to kindle. Therefore, I still have an interest to keep my nook alive. So, I searched and found two things. A DIY vid and Portatronics. They not only had the battery available, but also the correct tools that even the DIY videographer didn’t. This made for a quick and clean replacement that left no scratches or broken pieces. So, now I have a good device again with a new lease on life, till I can figure out how to transfer my nook library to my Kindle. Thank you Portatronics.
