J. Lemle Real Estate was founded in the early part of the 20th Century by Julius Lemle, who emigrated to the United States from a small German town along the Rhine, named Rulzheim. For decades, his six sons and daughters worked with their father out of a small office at 163 East 87th Street. In 1954, his son, Leo Lemle, struck out on his own. Keeping the family moniker of J. Lemle & Sons, Leo, along with his wife, Trude, and a small office staff personally managed the properties they acquired. Their hands-on approach to doing business was well-received by their buildings' tenants, many of whom they got to know well through the years. Their daughter, Laura Lemle, has followed in her parents' footsteps in running the family business. Together with a professional staff, our friendly approach and accessibility are a refreshing departure from the norm in the highly competitive and often unforgiving business of New York real estate.
