run. far. away.

we've been here for 18 months out of a 2 year lease and can't wait to leave. the building itself is very nice...but that's where it ends.

we were sold by Brian Loftman a 'luxury building' with a '24 hour doorman'. instead what we got was a superintendent (Eamer) who yells at tenants, refuses to fix anything (except his customized, free apartment in the building!) and a building manager who is a buffoon, to say the least (won't fix equipment, won't hire doormen, etc.).

about the doormen: we also got a generally unsafe neighborhood, but we did know about this last part moving in...we simply thought the '24 hour doorman' was a real doorman and would ensure our safety. it turns out the aspen won't hire doormen as they are in unions. instead, they outsource to the same company that provides the security at places like the welfare offices in the city and rite aid. they leave their desk frequently, lose packages, and let strangers in (we've had several people come right to our door without being notified). in this neighborhood, that's dangerous.

so, unsafe living conditions, a nice, newer building falling into disrepair due to a sloppy building manager and lazy superintendent, lots of neighborhood noise at all hours, and nothing around (no bars, supermarket etc). steer clear or go to the glenwood building one block up - they have an all day shuttle to/from the subway and real doormen!
