It's not a fancy sit down to order from your table establishment but you won't be disappointed. Excellent food! I've tried a variety of items on the menu from their salads to the fried catfish po-boy to their steak. My family loves Hot Tails! Be prepared for spicy flavor. This local restaurant has a large variety of fried foods, other items include: pasta salad, grilled chicken and delicious burgers. There are daily hot plates.

We love this restaurant...have been 3 times and plan on returning. The food is delicious, there is a wait for it, but only because they cook everything fresh after you place your order. Very kid friendly, staff very nice

I have been to this place more than once. Therefore I would like to think I gave it a fighting chance. If I could give this place a half of a star, I would.

And here's why: My wife attempted a "take out order". The wait after ordering was nearly an hour, the order was wrong! In a previous "dine in" experience after waiting in line mind you, I was informed that no substitutes can be made on my meal. For example, I ordered the most expensive thing on the menu, the seafood platter nearly $26. I don't care for soft shell crab, they wont even give me extra fries instead of the crab! Oh and get this when I get my platter there was a total of 2 fried shrimp, my favorite seafood.. The food is OK but I will not visit again. You get the price of fine dining with a fast food experience. Oh, except you can substitute this for that at a fast food joint.

Upon arriving at this establishment you see a sign "Place your order at a counter before seating yourself". My first impression is this place like a Burger King that sells fried seafood and beer.



The order counter is at the far side of the restaurant, and if you want to start a tab, be prepared to surrender your credit card until you leave. I got the feeling that this place has been stiffed by too many locals skipping out or refusing to pay.



With this being said, you have no waitress so don't expect table service. You need something else, you get up and walk to counter and then you pay more.



There were many fried seafood items on menu and that's impressive. I asked if the fried oysters were of decent sized. The girl at register looked puzzled that I asked, and she asked several people in the kitchen and they had hard time answering. OMG that's a warning flag I shouldn't been of ignored.



For $14.95 the answer was delivered to my table. Yes, the fried oyster are small, and overseasoned. They are served with generous portion of fried potatoes and two hush puppies. Hint: Have pitcher of water on table before you start eating.



My second dish that I ordered was the barbequed shrimp and again it was another disappointment. Basically it was boiled shrimp in a bowl of Worcestershire sauce and french bread.



PROS: decor and ambiance of the place is good, moderate selection of draft beer & hard liquor (Grey Goose & Patron), plenty of items on menu, and could be a good place for groups.



CONS: all fried food is overseasoned and tastes the same, pricey for what they serve and lacking in service.



CONCLUSION: It's much more dificult to get restaurant to correct something they screwed up --- they already have your money!

Amazing crawfish and the best food around. if you love crawfish you need to come to Hottails!
