I am born & raised in Metairie but now live in AR. I had my son baptized at home and our standard bakery was on vacation. I popped into Royal Cakery on a whim (while shopping at Stien Mart) and they too were closed that following week. The owner asked what day I needed it and said she would be in the shop doing other things so she would bake a cake. I was a bit nervous because I never heard of them but needed a cake and felt better that she was not a 'new' bakery - her original location was destroyed in NO during Katrina. Her claim that the cakes taste as good as they look is and understatement. This was the prettiest cake ever and was so very moist and the savory sweet taste melted through my entire being. My 20 guests and I could not have asked for a better end to the evening and enjoyed it again the next morning for breakfast! I am so glad they ended up closer to Metairie/Kenner so I could 'discover' them! Take a picture of the cake because you will miss it when it's gone! So yummy!

Royal Cakery is the only place I buy cakes. I have never tasted anything so good. The cakes have the best almond flavor and it goes down smoothly. I highly recommend this place. You will never find a place so good at these great prices!
