Provided by YP.comAgreed, the Voodoo Museum is tiny and silly. But the reason to go is Carol, the proprietor. She's a crack-up, and when I was looking for just the right voodoo doll, she said "I'll give you something better," and proceeded to look through the Farmers Almanac and write out a whole calendar for me on the best days for success -- kind of like a reading, only free!
She seriously did this just to be nice.
Plus, someone called while I was waiting and she gave them free advice on how to perform some sort of ritual. Of course it is probably all hogwash, but the vibe in this place does feel like authentic Nola when you dig a little deeper and get to know the locals.
Plus, I had no idea there is really such a thing as a "zombie," technically speaking, until I visited here. Who knew? For $5, it's a fun little distraction on your way through the quarter.
