Theo's is a wonderful restaurant that serves delicious, ample, fresh food at a reasonable price. The atmosphere is casual and comfortable. Theo and Gretchen treat everyone like a friend, probably because most of the people who frequent the place are friends! They don't take reservations, but if you have to wait, you will find the meal is worth it.

One of the things about this restaurant that makes me smile is the sign that states, "Be nice or leave."

Theo and Gretchen, who own Theo's Downtown Diner, at one time had a restaurant in Woodbury, CT., where I met them both. They both became really good friends and I was very upset when they closed the business. You can only imagine my joy at hearing from them that they had opened Theo's Downtown Diner in New Milford! I make the drive to see them very often and am never disappointed! Their new place is clean, neat, efficient, yet very homey. They both make you feel like family when you are there. The food is excellent, the prices reasonable and the atmosphere is warm and friendly. If you haven't been there, you really should go. You will not be disappointed.

This place was great! We stopped in on a whim and we'll be back again.



It was impeccably clean, the food was fresh (they have the world's best chicken salad) and delicious, and the service was great and friendly.
