Provided by YP.comAfter finding water dripping into my attic, I contacted Acadiana Roofing and spoke to a guy named Rayford. I told him that I wasn’t certain, but I think it was the skylight that was leaking. I told him that I work only ten minutes from my home, and would be happy to meet him at my home and show him exactly where the leak is coming from in the attic. He returned my call later that day to tell me that he had already been to my home (without telling me that he was going) and that he could fix the skylight for $250. He could also inspect the other skylight and if both of them needed to be fixed, he would charge $400. I agreed to this. He then told me that he wasn’t sure exactly when he could get to it, but probably sometime that week.
After a couple of weeks passed and hearing absolutely nothing from him, he shows up at my house asking for payment. I wasn’t even aware that he had completed the work, but according to him he did it the day after we had spoken on the phone. According to him, only the one skylight needed repair, so I paid him $250.
After paying him, I put a bucket in the attic where the leak was happening. After a couple of very hard rains, I checked the bucket to find it had water in it and the insulation next to the bucket was wet. I called the guy back to let him know what I had found. His response was that what he did “should not leak”, and then asked questions such as “how long has the bucket been in the attic,” trying to imply that maybe the water was there before he fixed it. He then said that he would come and take a look at, but I never heard from him.
Three weeks later, I called again to let him know that water was still coming into my attic. At first he told me he forgot, and then he told me “Well, I didn’t forget, but I have just been so busy.” He said he would meet me at my house that evening when I got off of work to look at it, but he never showed up and I have never heard from him again.
Not knowing too much about roofing, I really do not know what the guy even did up there, if anything (nobody was home when the repair was done). After I paid him, he also said “You don’t need an invoice, do you?” I said, “I guess not.” It would have been nice if he would have just offered an invoice, so I at least would have a better idea of what he actually did up there.
After not hearing back from him, I called another number and spoke to Dennis. He said he can't help me because the owner did it as a side job and didn't create an invoice for it. I would have to call Rayford directly. But when I call Rayford now it goes to voicemail and he doesn't even call me back. So apparently calling the number on the website for the business is not a guarantee that it will be the business helping you. The owner can just choose to not create an invoice, and then you are stuck dealing with only him, who does not return your calls.
After not hearing back from him, and having water continuously getting my insulation and ceiling wet and creating wet spots on the guest bathroom ceiling, I decided to try a $10 can of Rustoleum Leak Seal and see if that helps. Not being a professional roofer, I nearly fell off the roof a few times and also burnt my hand on the hot shingles. I realize this was my own doing, but my point is that I should not have had to even try my own fix if I would have gotten better service. I’m not rich, and $250 is a lot of money to just throw away, especially since I will now have to call someone else to finish the job.
Needless to say, I am very disappointed with the service I received from Acadiana Roofing. After he got my money, he wasn’t the least bit concerned with helping me.
