The mission of the New Britain Police Department is to protect and preserve life, safeguard property, enforce laws and provide public safety services. The department aims to do this in a lawful, professional and humane manner, with respect for the dignity of all citizens, while providing leadership in and with the community to suppress fear and maintain safety and order. Its patrol officers are on duty 24-hours-a-day and 7-days-a-week in service to the community. The officers of the patrol division use cruisers, bicycles, motorcycles and unmarked cars to accomplish their task of keeping citizens safe and deterring crime. The New Britain Police Department operates several other divisions as well, such as the narcotics enforcement bureau, animal control unit, youth bureau and traffic safety bureau. It is located in New Britain, Conn.
