Not so great experience with this eye place. When I went in to get pick out my glasses I felt like I was bothering them. When I went back to pick them up, the lady handed them to me, told me to pick out a glasses case and that was it. Didn't make sure they fit me correctly, didn't make sure I could see out of them, This is the first time and last time I will use them. I thought being a local business I would get better service. Guess not.

I recently had a very unpleasant experience with $25 Optical (Nederland location). Several days ago I stopped by to get the frames I currently wear updated with my more recent prescription. I paid $45 and left, easy as that.

During the days waiting for my glasses to be ready I decide I should bring in another pair of glasses to also have the lenses updated with the newer prescription when I pick up the other pair. A short four days later and my glasses are ready.

I tell the employee (Sue, according to my receipt) that I am there to pick up my glasses and drop off another pair. I take the pair I’m picking up, give her the other pair, sign a waiver clearing them of any fault if the frames are damaged, scratched, cracked, etc (something I did not do the first visit), pay $25, and I’m out the door.

On the way home at a stop light I take another look at my glasses in the mirror and notice the temples of the frame (the long parts that extend over and/or behind the ears to help hold the frame in place) were heavily scuffed up / scratched. I drive back home to further inspect them and notice there also seems to be a layer of residue on the temples as well. I decide at this point it probably isn't the best idea to leave them with my $400+ pair of frames I purchased in Italy.

I drive back to the store and very politely tell them I've changed my mind about getting lenses put in the other frames because of what happened to the ones I just got back; I don’t want to risk them being damaged as well. The lady who had helped me just moments before, Sue, now meets me with a roll of the eyes and a heavy scoff after hearing this. She gets up and retrieves my payment while another employee gets my frames. Apparently she was done with me at this point as she hands the other employee my $25 and keeps her back turned to me.

As I leave the store I am almost certain I hear expletives either directed toward me or about my decision to take back my frames. At that point I honestly didn't care. As nice as I was even after having realized my frames were damaged by the people who replaced the lenses (which I never signed a waiver for), knowing I could argue that, I knew this place wasn't worth my time.

This is what happens when employees disregard customer service and become complacent. This is something I've seen and know a lot about. It’s just a shame Sue, someone nearly twice my age, doesn't share this knowledge as well.

I felt I got exactly what I paid for. I will now happily go to another place of business and happily pay a bit extra for the service that goes with it.

If this store was operating in 1954 it would be a great selection, but if you want to pay a reasonable price and get a decent selection this is not the store to buy your eyeglasses in.

in addition I don't like to wrestle with the sales people over the price of a pair of glasses, I wanted to spend $25.00 they wanted me to spend more than $125.00.
