Why only one star :(?

Well, the filtered drinking water that came out of our LG refrigerator had little dirty white things floating around. So we bought a new filter. Followed the instructions on it, ran and dumped out a few gallons of water. But that didn't work. So we called Meyer Appliance (being they're just 1.5 miles from our house) and explained the situation over the phone. They said they need to send out someone to take a look. OK, so far so good, 5 stars :)....

The next day, a service person called me 3 times to ask for directions(then put me on hold while I was giving him directions), because he was too lazy to look up the map himself? I still didn't mind it, 5 stars for calling me back the next day :)....

He showed up and looked at the dirty water, and told me to either throw out more water or go buy a new filter (both which I was already doing and explained to him repeatly). Then I was asked to pay $94 for his trip and the 3 minutes he had spent here. He never even bothered to open my fridge nor looked at the water filter. I questioned, and he kind of laughed, and asked me back: "Who's going to pay for my van? my gas? and my car insurance?" I replied: "We called your company because you're just three, four lights away." He said the $94 is the trip fee regardless the distance-I could be living right next door to him for all that matters, I'll still be billed for the $94 minimum fee. So I asked again: "Couldn't you suggest us doing that over the phone? Can I speak to a manager?" So he happily put Mark on the phone to straighten me out: "This is the way it is.", "You don't need to get so excited!", "We do not give free advise over the phone!" This went on and on for about 10 minutes, and I was frustrated and tired from all this :(....

I finally gave in. So for $94, I received absolutely nothing from Meyer Appliance in return. And my water is now still undrinkable :(!!!

One star was just one too many for this company which I believe has a very poor business ethics, and terrible customer service.

I just hope someone else can read my experience and learn from my mistake... Is it really MY MISTAKE?!?

Great local appliance store. El Camino store is relatively new.
I have used their parts dept for replacement parts and advice with great success. They are very knowledgeable.

Meyer Appliance helped me create the kitchen of my dreams. They have a great selection of appliances. The team of sales people were very helpful and experienced. The prices were fair and I was happy to give my money to a local business instead of a large chain. I would definitly go back to Meyer Appliance again.
