The Weil McLain furnace in my home was only heating some of the rooms and sometimes it wouldn't kick on, so I called KEE heating and cooling. He said he replaced 5 parts in the furnace, all can be removed in 2 minutes or less and now it kicks on but still no heat in the farthermost rooms from the boiler. He was here for 40 minutes and the bill was $1711.00 I asked him for an itemized invoice. He printed a paper from his computer, NOT AN INVOICE, it has no prices or part numbers on it. he says he replaced the FLAME SENSOR, the CONTACTOR, THE SAFETY SWITCH, THE PILOT LIGHT AND THE GAS SOLENOID. I took the model number off the furnace and looked up the parts and prices myself. The flame sensor $14.95, Relay 18.95, pressure switch $36.95, pilot light $2.25 gas solenoid $90.00. Total is $197.80 without tax. So subtract $197.80 from $1711.00 and that leaves $1513.20. Here's what he wrote on the paper he printed off his computer. QUOTE"These parts were replaced in order to eliminate ALL mercury based switches from the system" Did you notice it doesn't say anything about replacing the parts to FIX the problem? but rather to replace ALL mercury based switches. There's only ONE! They told me a kit was available that eliminated all mercury based switches from the system. Why would you need a kit when there's only one? The following price includes the installation of the kit and the initial service call" Price: $1711.00
The heat in my back rooms still didn't work. I called a new guy from a different place and he came and fixed it all. It was a faulty flame sensor for $14.95 and he charged me $65 for the service call, replacing the sensor, hooked up a broken wire on the zone box and showed me what KEE did and didn't do. Here's what they did: They ripped me off for over $1700 dollars and didn't replace anything but cleaned the flame sensor again.
Here's what they DIDN'T do: FIX MY FURNACE
