Great New Beginnings Early Childhood Learning Center now has three great locations to choose from in the New Castle County area. Our first location, Governor's Square, is located behind the Governor's Square Shopping Center at the intersection of Route 7 and Route 40 in Bear. This facility opened in 1999 and serves a total of 160 families. Our second location, Saint Andrews, is located adjacent to the Fox Run Shopping Center within the community of Saint Andrews just off of Route 40 in Bear. This facility opened in 2005 and serves a total of 205 families. Our newest location, Bunker Hill Business Centre, is located in Middletown at the intersection of Route 299 and Route 301. This facility opened in 2006 and serves a total of 155 families. All of our facilities educate and care for children 8 weeks through our school aged programs which include before & after care as well as a private kindergarten program. Our standards are higher than those set forth by the State of Delaware Office of Childcare Licensing in all areas including staff credentials and curriculum content. We are proud that all three of our facilities have been awarded a kitchen permit by the state due to our high standards of food safety and nutritional guidelines. Our facilities boast age appropriate playgrounds with imagination building equipment and lots of room to run and play. Inside you will find our facilities to be bright, clean and secure.

This center has a strong focus on academics and learning in a fun and creative environment that allows children to blossom without them knowing that they are following a curriculum.

In the before and after program there is daily individual focus on homework.. Kids are allowed to explore and play and have a plethora of opportunities to learn on their own without instruction due to the scholastic environment that they are exposed to. My youngest child is a toddler and I love tuning in to see him playing with different toys and enjoy that there is a mixture of arts, crafts, reading, and problem solving that he is involved in daily. The ratios are wonderful. Sometimes I notice that there are extra teachers in a room as opposed to not enough which happens in a lot of facilities. It is apparent that the administration of this facility plans for staff absences. The communication with administration and classroom teachers is amazing! I have received phone calls, emails, and notes to keep me informed. The staff are consistently friendly and really keep their personal lives out of the workplace. No one is ever disgruntled or has a negative demeanor. Even when students are crying or it seems to get hectic. They are trained and know how to handle it. The environment has really helped me to provide my children with structure during a difficult time in our personal lives. Honestly, this center has given me piece of mind and set me at ease to know that my children are in good hands. As a mother, that feeling allows me to go to work and provide for my family without any hesitation because it is easy to find a safe environment for your children; but finding a center that your kids are happy about, where they hate to leave and look forward to attending, that is a rare thing indeed. Thank you Great New Beginnings for being AWESOME, AMAZING, and providing SUPERB FAMILY service! From the costume characters that come in for free every month to the breakfast for $1 a day per child...They are simply amazing and have very inexpensive field trips that are fun and exciting for the kids. I would ask them only to please just keep up all of the good work! I feel so blessed that a coworker referred me to their center. I wouldn't dare call it a daycare because that is almost an insult since this center is truly a learning school that has private school level learning and very involved and educated staff members and teachers.

My daughter and absolutely adore GNB! Every single staff member we've met has been exceptional. I've seen the greatest change in my 14 month old daughter since we started coming here.

My first impression was not good, the front desk administrators gave a bad 5 mins tour of the facility. I was not allowed to go inside the room or talk to the teachers, not shown the play area or kitchen, nothing.I was told its lunch time,I was there well before 12 when tour ends. Its not a big deal, but yes the front desk staff not very serious and friendly sometimes. But my view changed after I met the Owner Lynn whois present most of the days, and the administration is good when Owner is present. She is friendly and approachable, accommodates our requests and takes business seriously.I only enrolled after talking to her.Classrooms are nice spacious,My kid's teachers Ms.kim,Monica and Jessica are great, very nice to kids.Cook is NOT AT ALL friendly and respectful when I go with questions, lucky other parents dont have to talk to her often, Who cares as long as my kid gets a plate :)Overall clean Good Place, better facilities, only one that has a live camera.I Highly recommend this day care.

My daughter has been goinig to this daycare for about 2 weeks and she loves it. when i go and try to pick her up at the end of te day she tells me she doesn't want to leave yet. the other thing i like is that they are very organs and they have a very good struction. they also provide all there lunches and snacks and the cook lady does a great job on the food. my daughter never ate some veggies ad fruit alot and now she does. they last thing i like is that the teachers never yells at the kids for and reason they talk t them. the payment is alittle more then we use to pay but it is all worth it.if i ever have anymore kids besides they on i got i would diffently put my son/daughter in this daycare from the being.

They charge wayyyy too much and ARE money hungry. The administrative staff at the front desk are very unfriendly and unprofessional. The focus always seems to be on the dollar signs and NOT the children. Overpriced and not worth it.

I gave it 4 stars because I had just once incident that bothered me but other than that I love Great new beginnings!! The staff are very friendly and understanding. The front office staff always says good morning, hello and even have a great night when face to face. They even know your child by name when coming in or leaving which shows they care who you are. That's important for me. The webcam is especially great for new mom's who are uneasy about leaving their child for the day. I must be on it all the time and each time I see the teachers care and love the children. The one incident I had was when i came to pick up my child, she was in the swing with a knited blanket over her face. It was a teacher who is only there in the afternoon's when I pick her up. When i talked to the office about it, they told me all teachers would be addressed about this and it wouldnt happen again. I also love their open parent policy. I would visit my baby every day on lunch and they understood and encouraged my visits! I love this place!

Great New Beginnings is a large and clean facility. However, they do not work with the parents at all. I feel that they are so money hungry and love charging parents late fees. During a the Holiday weekend GNB was schedule to closed on a Friday and a Monday. Upon dropping my crew off I was charged a late fee because I didn't pay tuition on Thursday. I explained to GNB that I don't have direct deposit due to a new job and that I will pick my paper check and pay at pick-up. I was told that my care will be suspended if it's not paid by noon. So, I left work on my lunch hour, arrived at the bank to cash my check, arrived at the daycare to make the payment. Upon making the payment, I explain to the receptionist that I had a 1:00 p.m. meeting and I only get a hour for lunch; she showed she didn't even care. All she was concerned about is payment. I was an extra 45 min late when I arrived back to the office. Good Luck! Make sure you don't have no financial issues. Good Luck.

This childcare center is the absolute worse. The turn over rate of the teachers is astronomical. Compared to the other centers and what is offered it is over priced. Great New Beginnings needs to hire qualified staff to teach the children. More times than I wish to count have I walked in my childs classroom to find words misspelled..is that what my child is being taught?smh. I made a mistake in enrolling my child in camp last year and was quite embarrassed afterward of what Great New Beginnings defined as "camp". Will not recommend this center, glad to have transferred my child out of this place.

I was really disappointed to read this review as the owner of the facility. I know that we go above and beyond to secure quality staff for the children in our program. Our staffing standards are very high and we will initiate "turnover" to improve our program. We adhere strictly to Dept. of Education standards for our staff and will make staffing changes in accordance with these rules. As far as the camp, I know that we have repeat students every year. I would highly encourage all parents to check with the Dept. of Childcare Licensing prior to selecting any early education program.

Terrible Experience

Allison is absolutely right. This is a terrible place, with a high school mentality. Glad our baby is no longer there.

I am the owner of of Great New Beginnings. I was really surprised by the review posted by KabobKats. As an owner I am VERY accessible. All parents have my email and my cell phone number. I respond personally to every concern and question. I encourage families to check with the Office of Childcare Licensing before choosing any center. All of us at Great New Beginnings take what we do very seriously and do try our very best to provide exceptional care. It is imperative for parents to communicate with management to guarantee a positive experience in any program.

Careless Staff

Heard a lot from people. Buts its a total disappointment for us. We were expecting a lot from the teachers and other staff, especially from the room #7 teachers (GnB St. Andrews Bear DE), they are absolutely pathetic. They are not caring and loving towards to children at all, they show no affection for their students. They are not bothered of children crying for long time, cleanliness of the children. They are not putting their efforts on their students and least bothered about parents satisfaction. We expect our children to learn love, affection, kindness etc... apart from the other educational stuff, but with these kind of teachers as an example we are afraid of our children becoming the other way.

The front office/Admin staff is again matter of concern, they will try to be as good as they can till you get your kid enrolled in the center and once that is done they start behaving like aliens. Front office/Admin staff are supposed to be customer friendly but these folks are not bothered to throw a smile or drop a hi on entering the center which comes absolutely free and for which they don't have to pay anything. Moreover they turn their faces on the other way, it looks like as though they are doing favors to us and we are not paying the fees for our children.

We hope the management will take some necessary steps to improve the standards and focus on parents and children satisfaction centric. GnB still has some good and quality teachers at the center and their kitchen staff is good as well.

Disappointed parents of affected child.

I was very surprised as an owner to read this review in regard to this particular classroom/staff. We do not even have a record of this particular individual even being enrolled at our facility which was very confusing to me as an owner. I would encourage all families to verify with the Office of Childcare Licensing a particular center's standing before enrolling. We at Great New Beginnings are very proud of our program and our licensing inspections.

In Response to Allison

Wow - I'm really shocked to here this. My son has been with Great New Beginnings since 2005 and LOVES it. He's now 11 so I'm sure if there were things like this going on he would tell me immediately. Were you there long? Did you speak with the administrators? I have had an excellent experience with all of the staff and find them all to be really receptive.

Outrageous!!!

I feel the owner/state needs to make sure that the people they hire or allow to work as teachers/care assistants are qualified to provide care for all children.

There are going to be some kids that will have a bad day just as adults...so if a 3-4 year old child is having a tantrum or difficulty adjusting to the new surroundings it doesn't mean that the have add/adhd which was suggested to me about my child. I was told that maybe my child should see a doctor for testing!!!!!!!!!! Totally outrageous! They are quick to make that assumption and not willing to come up with a plan of action. I am happy to say that my child has adjusted very well at the new school and is a very bright, intelligent, well rounded kid working with seasoned professionals who are willing to go that extra mile to help those precious children that will one day shape our world and hopefully operate a better day care than this one!

I would encourage any potential family to contact our licensing representative to inquire about our program. The phone number is 892-5800. I am disappointed this mother didn't tell the whole story in regard to her experience with our program and the years of care we did provide for her family. We are extremely proud of our program and of our staff. We are also a proud participant in Delaware Stars for Early Success. GNB Management Staff

Services/Products
Early childhood education provides a solid foundation on which future learning may build upon. It should be developmentally appropriate and meet the needs of the individual child. It is extremely important to establish a rapport with each child and be able to develop the child to his or her fullest potential. To meet these responsibilities, Great New Beginnings will be flexible and willing to adapt when necessary. Great New Beginnings' main philosophy is to provide a warm, happy and stimulating environment for your child. The goal of the center is to develop a child's total potential by encouraging growth in social, emotional, physical and intellectual development. Children are given opportunities to be creative with art, experience music, movement, science, language, math activities, and various sensory activities that are also used to foster the child's hands on learning. Throughout the year, each child's developmental strengths and weaknesses are assessed and many "individual instruction" opportunities are offered. As a child matures and the capacities to absorb more task oriented activities develop there are a series of progressively challenging activities that will be presented, making sure not to present activities that are out of the child's limit.
