Duck River Electric Membership Corporation is a member-owned electric cooperative that serves consumers in south central Tennessee. With a service area of more than 2,500 square miles, the cooperative seeks to distribute quality electricity at the lowest possible cost to its nearly 70,000 members. The cooperative s other products and services include building and remodeling consultation, equal monthly payments, security lights, auxiliary generators and surge protectors. Duck River Electric Membership Corporation was established in 1936. It has headquarters in Shelbyville, Tenn. and branch offices in Manchester, Decherd, Sewanee, Lewisburg, Columbia and Lynchburg. The cooperative purchases its power from the Tennessee Valley Authority.
