My wife and I went with her mom and dad to buy some land. We found something in a good price range and a quiet area. After purchasing our property we needed to find a home. We went with a mobile home from Clayton Homes. They told us we had to have the property excavated before they could move the house in. Because my wife is disabled, we thought leveling off the area of the property would be saver. Well, after talking with several other excavators, we decided to call our dealer from Clayton Homes about getting an excavator with a cheaper price. Clayton Homes recommended DSR Excavation and DSR gave us a reasonable price for the work. So, we went ahead with DSR. They dug a platform and made footings for the house. It looked alright and all. But before this was done, the county sent us a letter stating we needed a percolation test and a permit to put in a septic tank. The county stated they needed these things from our excavator. We told Dean, our excavator, we needed the perc test and permit in order to make the septic tank installation legal. Well, he told us we didn't need either of them. Come to find out he didn't want to get a permit because he wasn't a licensed excavator. Now, even though most of this was our excavator's fault, the county is requiring us to get a permit and perc test because the septic was installed illegally. If we don't do as they say then the county is required to take legal action against us. The platform DSR made for the mobile home wasn't made level. Our septic tank doesn't look like it holds 1000 gallons and we thought we paid for a 1000 gal. tank. Our lateral lines are not 400 feet across and this was found out after having them inspected by the county. So, now, we have to dig down to the lateral lines in order to have them replaced, because the county requires us to have them at least 400 feet. We did not get what even paid for. I do not recommend this company to anyone! If anything, this has taught me to always investigate before going any further with any company or person; especially when it comes down to excavating. Not only am I angry at DSR Excavation for the trouble they have caused us. I am also angry about the fact that our dealer from Clayton Homes recommended DSR Excavation even though the excavator was not licensed to do the work.
