I was involved in an accident and the local police dept responded to the scene. One the officers called Cop's Towing to pick up my vehicle from the scene. By the time I was able to see that the Flatbed driverJohnny had my vehicle on his rig I was able to go over there and it was at that time that I was told by Johnny, the driver of the flatbed that I was going to be charged for the tow. I advised Johnny that I have AAA he advised me that they are not affilated with them. I asked Johnny to take my vehicle off his rig so that I could use AAA towing. Cop's Towing driver Johnny told me that it was to late and that I'm stuck with the towing bill. I also was informed by the same person that if I showed Cop's towing that I was the owner of the vehicle they would waive the 30 dollar a day storage fee. Later that day, I called to find out what the towing fee was. I was told it was 262.00 dollars and that they would take my car off my hands. so, what I see is a scam because they take my 262.00 dollars waive my storage fees and sale my car for scrap. Hey more money !!! I was told that if I wanted to have a salvage yard come and pick it up I would be again charged the storage fee. All I want to do is be able to sell it to a salvage yard. I think there's a bracket going on here between the local Police depts and tow companies. Both make money.... I will be pursuring this more... 7/5/2012, Today, I received a letter from Cop'sTowing " Claim of Prossessors Lien, Notice of Forclosure Sale" In that notice, They managed to raise the towing cost from $262.25 to $338.25 plus storage fees and other fees adding up to $1,288.25. Also, when I went to claim my personal property out of my car I was advised that I had to sign the invoice that stated that I will be financially responsible for the tow bill. I refused to sign. NOTE, BY LAW, THEY CAN NOT REFUSE YOU TO GET YOUR PERSONAL PROPERTY OUT OF YOUR VEHICLE IF YOU DON'T PAY THE TOW BILL. ALSO, They must tell you what the tow charges prior to the tow.... ...
