I am writing this review for anyone considering Charis Contractors LLC for roof repair or looking for Charis Contractor LLC reviews: Find someone else!

In mid-November I shopped around for quotes to replace my leaky roof. Charis Contractors representative David Wandel offered a higher price than some of the other contractors and seemed somewhat unwilling to answer my questions, but did offer the longest warranties. I mailed my contract and initial payment in on November 19th, and my check was cashed November 24th. The contract stated Charis Contractors would complete my roof replacement in 1-2 weeks.

It is now December 11th, it is cold, and I have a leaky roof.

I heard nothing from Mr. Wandel until he showed up (unannounced!) at my house, walking on my roof with an associate the week of the 1st to "check measurements." (Isn't that what the consultation was for?) Moreover, I have a skylight above my shower, so showing up without warning wasn't just unprofessional, but outright INAPPROPRIATE. When I called him on December 7th to find out why my roof replacement had not yet been scheduled, I found out that he had JUST ORDERED my skylights and the replacement would have to be put on hold for another TWO TO THREE WEEKS!!! That's MORE than A MONTH after I had signed!

Days later, STILL no one at Charis Contractors LLC has apologized to me for the delay, or even acknowledged the blatant breach of contract. I was even willing to keep working with Charis on my roof replacement, but when I called and brought up their contractual obligations Mr. Wandel got every aggressive with me, to say nothing of his rudeness. No discount offer, no offers for future work, NO APOLOGY. That pushed me over the edge. I can find a contractor in Kent County or Baltimore who will provide better customer service, a better price, and most importantly MEET THEIR DEADLINES.

The nightmare with David Wandel and Charis Contractors LLC doesn't end there, though. When I contacted their office to cancel the job, I found out their contract includes a 10% cancellation fee. Funny, they'll abide certain parts and not others! OVER ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS to cancel a LATE job from a RUDE JERK! Even worse, their cancellation agreement didn't even have accurate figures. Again, mind-bogglingly unprofessional! They can't do something right even when they're trying to shake me down! I am filing a complaint with the MHIC, the BBB, and will likely seek legal representation.

Hire Charis Contractors LLC for your roof replacement only if you want:
UNPROFESSIONAL staff
RUDE treatment
UNANNOUNCED and UNWANTED visits to your HOME
And most importantly, A COMPANY WHO DOESN'T MEET THEIR DEADLINES

Stay away from Charis Contractors and David Wandel!

I had Charis Contractors replace my roof in November and I couldn't be happier. Mr. Wandel scheduled a time to give me a free estimate and was there at the scheduled time on the dot. He explained everything to me so I could understand it and after getting a few other estimates I decided to chose Charis. Within a week they were at my house and the crew was great. I couldn't believe they got it done all in one day. They cleaned up so well you couldn't even tell that they had been there. Thanks Charis Contractors!! My house looks wonderful!

Hello All,

I would like to take some time to offer my heartfelt thanks, commendation to and indeed, recommendation of Dave Wandel of Charis Roofing Contractors.

Some roofing contractors I had contacted wanted to replace the roof of my rehab (which would have killed me). The prices they were asking for ranged anywhere from $7K to $8600.00. Dave gave me the most honest assessment I have ever experienced with any contractor. Not only did he tell me the roof was repairable and certifiable, the cost of the repairs and the certification was only ( and get this!) $350.00. All the roof needed was to have the vent collars on the pipes replaced. So whereas, others wanted to charge me for a new roof, Dave was honest enough to tell me what it really needed and did the job without any upfront payment.

I appreciate honesty and integrity when I see it. Dave Wandel has my business for life. Anyone with roofing needs should consider talking to Dave first.

Excellent work! My parents got their roof done by Charis contractors and they were very satisfied with the work. We heard about them through someone else who got their roof done.
