This company posted the following ad in the 11/21/07 paper:



MISLEADING AD-

KENMORE FREEZER,

Repo Sears Deluxe 20 c.u. ft,

4 fast freeze shelves, defrost drain, interior light.

*UNDER WARRANTY*



How old do you think this freezer is? We assumed a couple of years old due to the keywords, "Repo" and "warranty". New uprights start at $399 at Home depot and Sears.





When we arrived, he led us to a "Sears Coldpoint" freezer which looked very old and worn, nevermind the food stains inside.



LYING-

We asked how old it was and he said, TWO to THREE years old. The previous owner had failed on their payments.... We wondered how "long ago" the owner stopped making payments.

(when we arrived home, we looked up searsarchives.com, THEY DISCONTIUNED Sears Coldpoint IN 1976!)



BAIT and SWITCH-

We were then lead to the main showroom to the comparable freezers that were made in this millenium, ranged from $550 and up!



We drove over 70 miles roundtrip in a '72 GMC to see the freezer/take it home.



How the business can improve- BE HONEST! Need we say more. If you know customers are making a trip to see a product, don't falsely lead them on. BE REALISTIC! Would you pay $200 for a few decades old freezer?



For the consumer: To save your money and precious time- Ask for them to e-mail digital photos of the front, back, and inside of the appliance. Including the model's offical name and year. Call after recieving the e-mail to re-verify the details before you go!



As for us, we are going to Sears to buy a REAL KENMORE!
