We are military and had to relocate from the south to the state of Washington. I was very clear that I needed an empty weight truck ticket before at the point of orgin and a full weight ticket at the destination. I called to even make sure it was in the directions for the drivers. Then the drivers came late and caused me to have to reschedule other events and then because I had to rush off, I didn't have the opportunity to even think to verify they had the empty tickest, which they did not. However, the movers themselves worked hard and quickly. Then, I get to my destination and I am told it may take up to 10 more days to get my household goods and they would give me 24 hour notice. I started work and lived life with my 3 kids on air mattresses which was fine. One day I get a call saying the movers will be at my house in a few hours. Fine, I was happy to get my household together. Then, I get there and they can't get the truck down the drive way and it's 3pm. The two movers wouldn't listen to get a smaller truck and make a couple trips, instead they carted items almost 100 yards from the truck. I finally saw that this way was going to take forever. I just ended up taking my suburban back and forth to get items and finally I started moving boxes myself. I wanted to sleep to be at work at 6:30am in the morning. We were moving until 2am and then of course, I wanted at least my beds set up and nothing else was moved really where it was needed. I asked if my weight tickets were in the paperwork, they said yes, showing me yellow tickets. I couldn't see in the dark and assumed these guys knew what I needed because I had called and asked twice. I took a few hours of sleep and then went to work. I brought the paperwork to look through the next morning and the tickets were from Texas, not from where our destination started nor where it ended. And after calling and leaving messages, and emailing with no responses, I am basically forced to not get the rest of my moving allowance from the military and forced to pay back the $3,984 that I was advanced. I am considering talking to one of JAG officers and asking what can be done.

They too a potentially stressful day and made it go smoothly. They made us feel at ease with this moving experience.

I must say that I’m very pleased and would love to have them do this again!

Please be cautious of the reviews here. Check their record with the fed and BBB. Unfortunately, I believed what i read here instead of using due diligience to check with companies like the BBB who are tested and not paid by the company to flood these sites. I paid for American knights Moving and Storage to move me from Cincinnati and store my furniture for 3 months in Houston. When I received it December 2013, EVERYTHING ELECTRONIC was gone and ALL of my fragile things and valuable furniture was broken beyond repair--including an antique stove arrived in pieces, a new piano was missing its legs, and my $6k bedroom fruniture was missing legs, support of the bed and mirrors and the canopy frame was broken. To make me whole--despite video and pciture proof, this shady "moving" company denied the allegations and offered me just $203! If YOUR valuables and family memories are only worth $203, use this company.

Several items damaged, damage hidden intentionally until after movers left (delivery). Containers were broken into during transit, some items were missing. Most noteable were the attempted break-in of a storage bin containing empty prescription bottles (I use them to store springs and screws) and the bookshelf. The shelving unit was moved intact, delivered as a whole unit, and somewhere along the way the mover disassembled it *after* dropping it off in an attempt to obfuscate damage to the unit that occurred somewhere along the way. Now I'm left with several loose pieces of wood (split on the ends) and missing hardware. Some small items were taken from several containers in transit. They damaged a desk *they* custom-packed, furniture that they packed, an LCD monitor in its original packaging and an exercise bike they packed, among other things. I'm still compiling my complaint with the BBB and DoT against this company, as well as my insurance claim.

Your company helped my move go smoothly.

This was my first time really having to move much furniture, and the guys got it done quickly.

They were very professional and worked the entire time without taking a break.

Nothing was broken or lost in the move. The pricing was excellent as well.

I have referred them to a few of my friends who also loved their services.

Would hire them again in a second!

DO NOT CONSIDER FOR A MINUTE HIRING THIS COMPANY! At the front end, of course, they had a well spoken, seemingly knowledgeable, sales person that helped me plan my father’s move from Houston to California. I asked to include a full pack as my father is elderly and I was not there to help him. We went back and forth with lists of items that would be packed and moved. I asked Megan if it might be better to have someone come out and give an estimate and she assured me that would not be necessary. After paying $2,100.00 up front and a $1,696 balance due upon arrival in California we gave a detailed list of items that would be moved. Shortly after the movers arrived they were suggesting that the move would cost about $2,000 more than originally estimated. I called the business and they assured me that the original balance due would not change. They confirmed that by email. The truck driver made my dad sign a document with a balance of $1000 more than what we agreed to. When I explained to the driver that the office agreed to the original amount he said that if my dad (after 8.5 hours of packing) did not sign the document, he would unload the truck. I advised my dad to sign the document because I had already talked to the office. This all occurred on Aug. 24th. On Sept 6th we had not heard from the company as to when our items would arrive. I called the company and after putting me on hold for 15 minutes, Rosa came back and told me they could not deliver because they did not have a delivery address. What!!!

They were given the first available receiving date and delivery address twice by email before the 24th! She said she would call me back that day after speaking to her supervisor. Of course, I never heard back from her. The next business day, Monday, I called back and she said she would let me know when the truck would be leaving for California. Of course I did not hear from her. I called the company again on Tues 9/10 and she informed me that they would be leaving for California on Mon 9/16. On 9/16 the dispatcher (Max) informed me that the truck would be leaving and I owed $2,672, almost $1000 more than agreed upon. That’s when I had to talk to the Regional Manager, Lisa Miller. She was unbelievably unprofessional and extremely rude. All she could say was that my dad signed a legal document and we owed the money or they would not deliver his items. She finally agreed to reduce the extra $1000 by $300. I just wanted my dad’s things safely delivered so I agreed. The truck arrived on 9/19/13 at our street level storage unit. The truck driver said that since they could not park right in front of it and had to walk 100 feet, that I had to give them $300 cash on the spot. This was a door to door service and if this truck had to deliver at my house, it would have been a heck of a lot more work. These guys literally had to walk 100 feet with items on a dolly or cart and stack in a storage unit. No stairs, no furniture to put together. It took two guys 2 ½ hours. Well we did not have the $300 cash and had to leave to go to the bank. On the way to the bank, the driver called and said, “I needed to bring back $450 cash or we would not get our stuff”. At this point I should have called the police. I asked him (Mike and Issac) why the $150 difference but he couldn’t explain. He was holding our things hostage and he knew there was not a thing I could do. Also, it should be noted that when I originally talked to the salesperson, Megan she informed me that they use all their own American Knights marked trucks. Nope! The truck that originally picked up my dad’s stuff was completely unmarked and the truck that delivered our items came in a United Van Lines truck. The drivers claimed they were employed by American Knights but the PMO for the balance had to be made out to DC Van Lines.

Total Loss of Shipment! We lost nearly $30,000. On Aug 3d, 2013, we hired a company called All Inclusive Moving based in Jersey City, NJ to move all our belongings from CT to TX. All Inclusive subcontracted the work to American Knights for the move. On Aug 9th, American Knights lost my entire shipment to a fire in Braxton County, WA. Supposedly the trailer caught fire (No other vehicle was involved in the incident). My moving company called me and told me that it was a total loss. The police in Braxton county said that 9 other families also had their belongings on the trailer. It's been a month since the incident and so far American Knights has not bothered to contact me about the incident, let alone apologize. In fact, when I called them, they asked me not to call them and talk to my moving company (All Inclusive) instead. My moving company says it's not their fault and the American Knigts are responsible. How can a trailer simply catch fire? Were they moving industrial chemicals with our residential shipment? Was the trailer jam packed with stuff from 9 families? We don't know. The driver made no effort to salvage any thing. We had fire safe boxes in our shipment with original documents. Maybe that would have survived, but they did not even try. Our loss in the incident was about $30K. We didn't have full value coverage, so the movers insurance will only pay us 60 cents a pound (about $4K), leaving us with a loss of $26K. In addition to all our furniture, clothes and original documents, we also lost pictures and videos of our weddings and of our kids. All because of these horrible guys. I'm writing this review under my real name and this is a real story. Feel free to contact the Sheriff in Braxton County, WA (Tel (304) 765-5122) for confirmation of this incident.

Do NOT hire this company!!

Ok, I was that person that read the reviews and thought to myself, "the only people that write in are the disgruntled few that have bad experiences and the exception, not the norm." I spoke with Dwayne on the phone and he convinced me that they cleaned up the company and that my experience would be different from those who authored the less than stellar reviews. I took the chance and went with American Knights for my move from Detroit, MI to Charlotte, NC.

I definitely learned the hard way to trust the complete strangers that take the time to write reviews and they are really just like me and you. Please take this review and trust it to be your warning.

Dwayne, the agent appointed to be my customer service rep, quoted me a price of $1262. We went through the inventory and attempted to list everything that I had to move. I voiced my concern about missing something and how that would effect the cost. He assured me that missing one or two things would not be a big deal, but missing several would increase the cost. Ok, I was fine with that.

On the day of the move, they went to my house. The movers were rude to my mother, asking for water, access to the house to charge their cell phones, and took FOREVER loading the truck. During the loading process, one of the drivers realized that an item that was in the truck already from their previous stop was broken. In an effort to hide the broken piece, he asked to place it in my mother's garbage.

As the movers added up additional items to be moved, my cost went from $1262 to $1500. Then they said they needed to charge me for more packing materials. Then more boxes. Then truck space. When I became very concerned, he said that the cost would not go over an additional $400! He came back an hour later and quoted me at $3100 but was going to "take care of me" and only charge me $2000! With no other choice, I agreed.

Two days later, I called to check on the status of my stuff. Spoke with Dwayne again who said he needed to transfer me to Rosa the transportation person to see where the truck was on the route. Rosa said she could not find my truck and would get back to me. Never heard back from her. I called her back a few hours later and she still couldnt find the truck and said she would call me. Never heard from her. I called the next day. Still nothing. So now my stuff is missing. This went on for 10 days until I got a call from the driver. He said he was not sure why Rosa couldnt find him and said that they would be at my apartment on the 13th day. 13 days! I started my new job with no furniture or clothes because they "could not get a truck to deliver my stuff".

Day 13: Movers arrive. As they go to reassemble my stuff, they realize my desk is broken and cannot be put back together. They also broke my night stand lamps and it wasnt until i went to go use it that I realized that my suitcase fill with random last minute stuff, was completely missing. Still have no idea where it is to this day.

The President of the company, Kobi called to apologize. He was full of excuses as to why they couldnt get it together. His response, "This isnt like a pizza delivery you know". he took $300 off my bill but now I have a broken desk, two broken lamps, and a missing suitcase full of stuff. This all realized after they collected payment. Oh, and dont forget the 5% credit card processing fee they tried to charge me!

Once they got their money, that was the last I heard from them. I had to contact an outside claims company to file my claim. Nothing guaranteed and it can take up to 12 weeks to process.

Bottom line.....DONT DO IT!! Horrible company!
