I would give them a minus if I...

Day 1 - On Sunday, October 7, 2012 our refrigerator just stopped getting cold. I called Allstate Appliance Repair and they said they would be right over. What a pleasant surprise that they were so quick on an early Sunday morning. John, the owner came over. He opened both doors of my GE Profile which was only 4 1/2 years old. He told me it was the condenser and the part would run $420 dollars and he would order the part and have it installed the next day.

Day 2 - Monday, October 8, a nice man named Mike came over and said he was sure it was not the condenser. So he pulled out the refrigerator, took off the back and said it was the mother board. He called and had them order it and the cost would be $457.

Day 3 - Tuesday, October 9, Mike came back and installed the part and said it should take about 24 hrs. to get cold so I waited.

Day 4 - Wednesday, October 10, I checked the temperature and it was still not cold. The freezer side was dropping a bit but the other side had not gotten any colder. So, I called and Mike came back that day and added some Freon and said that should fix it.

Day 5 - Thursday, October 11th, I check the temperature again and the freezer was getting colder but not the other side so I called again and Mike came back out. He said that it was probably beyond repair and that they would refund our money.

On Sunday, October 14, my husband and I went out to buy a new refrigerator which would be delivered on Wednesday, October 17.

Mike was supposed to come on Monday, October 15, to take out the new part and replace it with the old part because the guys bringing the new refrigerator would be removing the old one. So I called John, the owner and asked when Mike would be there to remove the part. He asked me if I would take $50 for the refrigerator and that they would remove it. Sure, I said. He said he would call me back immediately and let me know when they were coming. He never called.

Tuesday, October 16, I called John again and said he had to either remove the part or come and get the refrigerator before the new one arrived on the following day. Mind you we have now been without a refrigerator for 10 days. He said he would call me back right away and give me a time. Yes, you are right, he never called. So, I called him back. He said his guys would be out at 2:30 to give us $50 and pick up the refrigerator.

So we waited and no one came so I called John again, he said their were very close. At 5:00 they finally came. We have hardwood floors and told the guys to be careful and asked them for the $50. They said, what $50? So they called John and he told them to pay us, bring the refrigerator back and he would reimburse them.

So I guess you know where this is going. They dragged the refrigerator and scratched our floors. So I called John and said he would have to pay for the damage. He started cussing at me and told me it was not his fault that it was the drivers and to talk to them. I told him that they worked for him, he hired them and he was responsible. He said they did not work for him. He was screaming so much at me that my husband took the phone and what a mess.

The drivers told us that they did all of John's pick-up's and deliveries. The driver called us back and said he would take care of the damage. Did John threaten to fire them? Who knows.

Here is the interesting part. When the drivers came in and looked at the refrigerator and hit some controls on the front, the temperatures were normal. They were not normal when we had checked it before they came. They told us we were giving away an expensive refrigerator. What could we do? We had already gone out and spent $3,400 for a new refrigerator and had been without one for 10 days. What a fiasco.

Was this all a scam to get a very expensive refrigerator for $50? Who knows. All I know is that buyer beware with this company. Unbelievable to say the least.
