It's amazing this place is still open, it just seems so chaotic, like a zoo of wild animals. And why did they hire that old Dr. David Crawford. One time I saw him he never even looked at me during the entire session, he just wrote in his little book, or maybe he was just drawing pictures. He did not even seem to know I was there. He asked questions like he was reading from a manual. And he appears so arrogant, like he is above everyone else around him. Where is his mind at? I know the worst students in med school go into Psychiatry because it's easier for them (good doctors go into surgery or private practice), and I know the state gets the left overs from that because the better doctors work in the private sector, but why can't they at least get qualified doctors that are competent in their field? Why are my taxes going to pay their ridiculously high salaries of $220,000+ per year??? !!! This is truly a crazy place!

This place is a Snake Pit of misery & hell. I was greatly abused while staying in this day trap. Unit F. If you want your loved one abused and broken go on send em here. As I was being held down bruised injured abused on tape at this state run hell hole I knew exactly what they were doing. They didn't fix a person I pulled myself out of it. If you wish to disable someone for life send em here. You will leave battered. I did every mark on my body was noted. Mental health isn't what this place offers. It offers you 8 days of hell scape. Your only escape is take your cocktails of drugs they force on you. Currently I'm seeing real doctors for my grief of losing my dad to cancer. Not these hacks. I didn't have a lawyer advising me. The doctors can say anything they want in your records like the one who yawned in my face as he was telling me how tired he was. I know real doctors they aren't like these hacks. Avoid a stay in this hellhole. If you hate your loved one send them here.

I just got out tonight. Thank god my stay was only 3 days. This place is horrible. I suffer from ptsd and depression.i have lived with it for 20 years. I had a really bad relapse in my mental health over the holidays and finally sought help out of despiration. Bad move on my part. If this is the care tn gives its citizens and especially its veterans i understand why people chose suicide. The only thing good i got out this place was angry. How strong do u have to be to abuse and neglect the helpless. What i experienced myself was horrible, but at least i had the brain function to get out. I beg anyone who has family inside of this institution to get them out immediately no matter the cost. I can not go into details on here about conditions.as of tomorrow i will take action for my rights and for those abused withinthe walls of this place. I thank you MTMHI. You have given me purpose. I was suicidal when i went in. Now im not. My new purpose is to help the amazingly beautiful patients i met while locked up here. They might seem strange but once u get to know them they are amazing. I was focused on my problems when i went in. Now im focused on helping my friends i left behind.

there are no words for this place, it's utterly terrifying. You are under the control of the Nigerians in charge. It's horrible and they treat you like an animal. I wanted to call the advocate and was not allowed to, which is against the law. The food is worse than prison food and cold at that. Go to the Parthenon Pavilion, Skyline Madison or Vanderbilt.

let me just say this this about this place and every one in America they are corrupt violent they don't let you eat snacks or let you get a job or get outside in the sun they don't let you talk on the phone its very sad from what ive seen on other reviews. drugs and medicine are very bad for you and should not be forced at all they ruin youre health and make you depressed people we have got to stop this terrible stuff that really goes on behind these walls to good people who might have a learning problem or are sadly mentaly retarded and should be at home learning to live a normal fun life the staff are horrible people and don't deserve to act like thugs and treat humans like trash I also heard that they beat up 2 kids there about a year ago and hog tied and choked out another guy there I heard it was on the news and very wrong I hope he files a lawsuit bc that's just wrong to misuse kids like that by like 7 guards that breaks my heart we have got to put an end to this inhumane stuff that goes on around my neighrohod peace out homie

my husband was in this trash hole for three days and had to eat cold food and drink nothing but water, when i went to see him the smell was awful all you smelled is urine the tables that the patients eat on are sticky and dirty the employees talk so bad to the patients that it makes me sick to my stomach. i also seen a lady fall in the hallway and no one went over to help her up, but when another patient went over to check on her she was told to move this lady laid on the ground for sometime, one of the employees came into the visiting room and told us not to be alarmed and in a nice way i told him that upset me because no one tried to help her and his response to me was "you see shes a big woman i aint breaking my back to get her up" he also said that all she wanted was medication. If it was wanting meds she would not have fell as hard as she did. after laying on the floor for the time she did he finally went over and helped her up with an attitude. this place is ran by the state and i now know how the state feels about the humans that get sent out to this place. middle tennessee mental health institute is not fit for rats,snakes or any kind of animal much less humans that need help dealing with lifes everyday struggles rather it be a mental problem or detox problem. these people are supposed to be there to help not talk to you like you are trash. i think its crazy because we requested that he stay at vanderbilt detox unit but the lovely tenncare program that tennessee has approved him for this trash hole. not only did he have to eat cold food and so on, everytime i went to see him he was HIGHLY medicated, i guess they figure if they keep them on meds to make them walk around like zombies thay they wont relize how the they (paitents) are being treated but they got fooled because my husband aint stupid and he remembered everything from the food to the paitents fighting each other and the way the employees talk to the paitents. this place needs to be shut down and they only way thats going to happen is for the state investigate the facilities, so if you know or have a loved one in this place PLEASE PLEASE get them out
