Cold atmosphere and the food was just bad. I have never in my life had a Caesar salad that was so garlicky and risotto that was so salty.

We dined here because of the reviews.
WOW
The reviews were 5's and they were not good enough
This is the best food we have had in the last 5 years and several states from east to west.
We started with the maduros and they were out of sight, keep in mind we are from Florida which is maduros central so good ones are the norm.
Then came the elongated potatoes, absolutely spot on delightful
Our creme de la creme was the octopus which was the best I have ever had and Chef Herget is brilliant at this, perfectly cooked and seasoned.
However, the roasted chicken was even better if that is even possible, outstanding again.
If we get anywhere near Tennessee we will be diverting for the Little Octopus food.
To you folks in Nashville, what a treasure you have in this restaurant, it is what every Chef aspires to.
This is a one of a kind restaurant and I having been toying with the idea of relocating there just for your food.
Best wishes

It is incredible the way that the chef of Little Octopus can stack flavors together on a single plate.

Little Octopus chef Daniel Herzog was voted best new chef in the city by our local kind of indy paper. He is a mastermind and with the new restaurant, everything is sort of large tapas style meant to share and with an Asian influence. We went all out to capture a good chunk of the menu in one sitting and every dish we tried was so unique and mind blowing. I have particular love for the Bratt dish with creamy, salty, pickled, sweet, unctuous garlic, crunchy greens...I could eat that all day and still never place all the flavors. Our waitress was incredible with supplying any ingredient questions we had and inning to the kitchen when she doubted herself.

The Pop building itself is fantastic - just kind of a big blank canvas with some art, but rentable for events (and you get this OUTSTANDING chef as well - he will work imma u lately with you in the menu and blow your guests away, we did our wedding reception here). Parking is limited out front but with an enormous lot around the side and much side street parking in the area. A potentially expensive meal that will absolutely delight you and anyone you'd like to impress with the up and coming food scene or alternately, an awesome chea delicious meal if you just do the burger...it is absolutely one of the best in town. My taste buds still perfectly recall that salty butter bun and juicy, juicy simple burger.

I was very excited to try Little Octopus. Keeping up with the Nashville food scene has become quite a task lately. I'm not ashamed to say I felt pretty hip eating somewhere with such a glorious name.

The hostess greeted us with a big smile and a genuine welcome and seated us right away. We were the first people arriving for dinner hour so we had a few minutes of lovely conversation all to ourselves. The atmosphere is minimal with art that is for sale on the wall, classic/sleek dining furniture, and white walls. Personally, I didn't find it uninviting at all. I like the idea that the art will change. The space is a somewhat blank canvas, it doesn't project any particular mood onto its' diners. The focus is on your company and the food.

That being said, the acoustics of the space (I assume? I'm not an architect.) cause it to get kind of loud easily. We quickly had people on either side of us and had a difficult time tuning out our neighbors. This can be good or bad depending on how you look at it. We ended up striking a nice conversation with the people to the right, but the people to the left were just loud...

Our service was wonderful! Drinks never became empty and the food was brought out warm one at a time as the dishes were ready. Sometimes the wait staff can become intrusive, interrupting conversation or checking in too often. The wait staff at Little Octopus have struck the delicate balance of not distracting from your company while also providing an excellent level of service.

But what about the food?!

Little Octopus is tapas style so the intention is that you order several things to share with your table. Everyone gets their own little plate and you take samples from dishes as they arrive. Then you order more!

We ordered four dishes. Two of them were phenomenal. One was pretty good and the other wasn't really my personal tastes.

I will just get out of the way that the quinoa with poached salmon and seaweed salad didn't exactly rock my world. Was it prepared well? Absolutely. In this particular case, it just kind of paled in comparison to the rest of the dishes. In my personal opinion, the other dishes just shine so much more. Maybe it's not fair to compare dishes like that and I would have been better off allowing the quinoa and poached salmon to just be itself. It is what it is.

The fingerling potatoes were basically the equivalent of a casual night out with friends sprinkled with light but meaningful conversations...in potato form. That is to say, they are spicy and delicious in all the right ways. The avocado with dates and Caramelized onions surpassed my expectations of a dish that sounds so simple. The crunchy sweetness of the toppings pair so wonderfully with the smooth avocado.

As if that weren't enough! Even the freshly squeezed lemonade was a pleasant surprise of deliciousness. I'm a little bit of a lemonade snob so I'm hard to impress in this arena. For my personal tastes, the lemonade walked a wonderful line of sweet and tart.

I highly recommend Little Octopus!
