I actually found this shop (Mt. Lebanon Shoe Repair), by accident! I was leafing through Green Tree city's local newspaper in line @ my bank. I happen to stumble upon an article about 2 kids (around junior high age) that started a charity. It's called "Little Soles Collection" (I'm hoping that is the correct name) but this article had photographed these 2 very young kids/friends (1 girl & 1 boy) actually collecting pairs of donated shoes (in new to good condition) for under-privileged kids at other local junior/senior high's. I normally donate 100% of my clothes, shoes, household items, etc. to a battered women's shelter (The Hope Center) in Tarentum, Pa. (**side note: The Hope Center divides up the donations & "gives" the items to women & their children in their time of need. When they sneak out in the middle of the night from an abusive relationship with a bag/suitcase in one hand and their child in the other, and never look back, you have to give them credit for leaving everything behind for their safety. Believe me! I am all about finding a good sale/bargain... but I get VERY pi**ed off when I see a brand new Hummer or Corvette in the parking lot of local Goodwill store. Obviously, looking for those re-priced $2 (originally $50+ donated Macy's jeans) so now you see why I drive 40 min one way to Tarentum... (end side-note) :) My whole point?? I am getting there...slowly. One of the two children who started this charity (the little boy) his Dad, Ross, owns "Mt. Lebanon Shoe Repair" and it is one of their designated drop-off locations where you can donate your shoes. Ross (the dad) is "very nice & personable" I have donated 2x to his son's charity. Both times, we chatted for a few minutes. You can tell a lot (I think) about a person by the way the owner treats & talks to his customers, so my whole point here is: If you need some shoe repairs & you are close by or in Mt. Lebanon, give him a try! His prices from what I have overheard him tell other customers are "very reasonable"! If you have some decent shoes to donate to the kids, once again, stop by! However, if you are in the opposite direction of Mt. Lebanon... Let's just say Tarentum-area, (wink wink) make sure you help out these mothers/families in their time of need, too. I promise I am (by no means) a goodie-goodie or trying to come across that way.. I believe in doing good when ever & where ever you can! There is too much hate in the world today.
