Direct Buy has actually saved us a HUGE amount of money!! It definitely can work very well, but it is not for everyone. It absolutely is NOT a scam. The bad reviews are from people who have not actually used the DB service, just heard the pitch.

The choices are huge and amazing, you could spends days in the library of catalogs just finding out what you can order and that can be tedious, but you get out of it what you put into it. The more I research product the more I find what I am really after. I have put their customer espresso machine to good use. I have also purchased electronics, furniture, art, mirrors, decorative items, even art - it's all available.

We are satisfied members of DB and would highly recommend this company, despite the high entry fee and, yes, the tactics to join. I am here to testify that the service is terrific, from the customer service desk, who always return emails, to the sales personnel who always greet us with smiles and very helpful and useful information. The warehouse staff are responsive, and infact delived our recently purchased leather couches (for which we saved $4000) professionally and efficiently. The interior designer, whom we met for the first time last Saturday, was knowledgable and took his time with us despite a busy Saturday afternoon. His explanations and drawings (to help with sinks and faucets) were very helpful. The receptionists are professional, responsive, groomed and pleasant. Whenever we have needed help finding a catelogue, product samples, sections of the store, never have had a problem. We recently purchased a slab of granite thru their contract with a major supplier in San Jose and saved $500.00. We compared custom made shutters thru a southern ca company and a company in the easy bay and yes, saved over $600.00. You need to have an idea what you want, do your homework about brands, clearly understand the terms of the your contract, and of course carefully read the wholesalers terms for the products you are purchasing. The range of products available is hugh, almost overwhelming, but you must know what you want and be patient to go thru the catelogues. We go on the non busy days during the week. Parking is convenient. Yes, sadly, the bathrooms are in dire need of a redo. The only negative for us. Give it an honest assessment and talk to other members who have discovered this buyers club.

DB allows you to act as if you are a buyer for a retail (or wholesale business) by ordering directly from the manufacturers. You can get most stuff for about 40%-60% of MSRP. A few things, like some furniture, we didn't like and sold thru classified ads at our cost (no returns unless damaged), but mostly we got much better products for WAY cheaper than we would have without DB. It's a LOT of work to do, but if you are remodeling and/or getting a lot of new furniture it can be very worth while.

Well we pulled the trigger on the kitchen remodel and it will be $100k all in. DirectBuy has saved us over 40k with those numbers! It's worth it if you are looking to invest into your house and living.

My wife and I built our own, big dream house ourselves over 2 years (Feb 2007 - Feb 2009) near Half Moon Bay and now live in it--we love how it turned out, partly because of DB allowing us to get better quality stuff within our budget. We ordered a HUGE amount of materials and products thru DB to go into this new million dollar, ocean view home (over $180k of stuff), but our calculated savings was well over $100k. We got flooring, cabinets, windows, doors, plumbing fixtures, lighting fixtures, appliances, furniture, and so on.

So I went to a showcase and the Direct Buy Catalog is amazing. They have the bed room set of my dreams on page 3 that would have costs me 5 times the membership costs. The Direct Buy agent that helped me was also very nice and cute. I am so excited to go home tonight and get into bed. I have man of my dreams in my life and now I have the bed room set to match. :)

Bf and I are looking to remodel and so we heard about direct buy from a friend of ours. We tried it out and at first we were kind of nervous and wanted to end our membership because they have the 30 day opt out thing. We will save more than we will spend on the membership. So i'm happy.

We joined DB earlier this year before starting our home remodel project and we are so glad that we did. We found it very convenient that we could shop for everything at one place and didn't have to drive around to find what we wanted. DB saved us a lot of money on several things. Moreover, we found some stuff that you can't find at other places easily. The best thing about DB was the service and help we got from their friendly staff - they are all awesome. Yes, flipping through books is not fun and it takes some time to get used to but the staff really helped us out. We recommend it to all our friends.

I did the Direct Buy experience today and thoroughly enjoyed it. I must have spaced out in the introduction as I didn't hear or comprehend the one time offer part of the membership. I would have defiantly held off attending today until my particular situation clears up and I can spend the money to join. Keep that in mind before agreeing to attend! The only thing I didn't like about the whole sales pitch was the idea that everyone would run out and try to get the same prices elsewhere. But hey whatever. The gift they give you was unexpected and very nice since I basically wasted their time for two hours. Of which I felt terrible about. But if you can afford the very reasonable price and hate paying retail defiantly give them a hard long look and I'm sure you will agree that it is a great deal.

We have been members for a number of years. Assess whether the membership fee offsets the potential savings you'll gain. That depends on what you are planning on purchasing in the next few years. Solid savings if you are remodeling a kitchen or a full bath for example or doing more extensive work.

I have been a member for four years. I recently purchased a leather couch. We were able to save approximately $600.00 compared to several discount special order furniture stores we shopped in the Bay area. This was amounted to a 40% savings. The couch was special ordered in a custom leather that you just find shopping most of the typical furniture stores in the area. The staff at direct buy is knowledgible and were very helpful in going through the selection process, Their knowledge of furniture was very enlightening to us so we could make the right decision for long term satisfication. We are pleased with the product.
