This is probably the hardest review I have ever had to write. I thought we had found the perfect place to board our two dogs. I am the first to admit, that I am fussy about our two dogs, and I tell that up front. I can't relax on a vacation, if I am worried about how the dogs are doing. I started watching the dog cams at Adogo before even taking a tour of the facility. I was impressed with the inter-action between the dog specialist and the dogs - lot of petting. We toured the facility, and although I thought the dogs to "people" ratio was rather high, we decided to book their largest suite for our vacation in June. At our tour, I talked to Stacy, one of the owners about an eating issue one of my dogs had, and, together, we figured out a way that someone could be with them when they ate. I was extremely happy at how cooperative she seemed to be. We did a practice boarding this weekend, (Friday & Saturday with pick up Sunday morning). I told them up-front that I would be watching the webcam - which I did. On Friday, I am assuming the dogs were out for most of the day, because they were not on the camera in the inside play areas. On Saturday, all the dogs were brought in to the indoor play area at 10:00 a.m. We watched the interaction between the person and the dogs, and felt that our dogs got ample petting. According to their website, at 12:00 dogs are fed lunch, and then it is naptime (lights out and soothing music in the daycare area, and I assumed at that time my dogs would be taken to their "suite" for their treats and a much needed potty break, snack and lunch. By 1:30 - I noticed my dogs acting a little nervous. I called Adogo's front desk and asked when the dogs were going to be taken out for a potty break, and was told "soon". By 2:30, there were a lot of potty accidents going on (although they were cleaned up promptly) and the dogs still hadn't been let out. That is 4 1/2 hours! At 2:40 I finally called and asked that my dogs be removed from the play area, taken out to go potty, and asked that they be given their treats for lunch and put back in their suites. I emailed Stacy and asked her to call me. She called about 20 minutes later, and I told her I was upset about no lunch and lack of potty breaks. She said nothing like that had ever happened before, and she would call the staff. She called me back and said that the first crew thought that the second crew was going to take them out, and the second crew thought the first crew had taken the dogs out - and it was a terrible misunderstanding. I knew that I had personally, called the front desk and informed them that the dogs had not been outside. The other dogs (mine had been removed) were finally ALL taken out at approximately 3:30 pm (although I was told dogs go out in small groups). I saw no water dishes in the play areas. Stacy did call me again and offered me a discount on our boarding, which I refused. It wasn't about the money, it's about the dogs. As I think back - they offer their tours from 12:00 - 3:00. Other places don't offer tours during "naptime". There must not be a check and balance system - how could no one NOT know that the dogs were never given a potty break in that amount of time. As a pet owner, we have left our dogs at home for up to 7 hours alone, with no potty time, but then they usually sleep, and aren't such a lively situation. On Sunday morning another call from Stacy told a different story about why dogs weren't let out. I can only assume that they fed my dogs the way I requested, but I seriously have my doubts. I think the place is "smoke and mirrors". If you are concerned about your dogs welfare - take the time to few the webcams for a few hours at a time. I think you will get the true picture of what really goes on. Just like everything else - you can put all sorts of fancy words on your website - but it is the follow through that is important.
