Very unprofessional and borderline dangerous practice. I'm an RN and a SLE pt myself. During my time of a job transition, I needed to re-establish care with a new MD there (as Dr. Hinkle there retired) and a new 'flare' was fully back. Mind you, this appt was also made nearly 2 mo in advance - of which they asked for my insur info, etc over phone. So day of appt, took off work, went in, walked in door, etc - and they will NOT let me be seen by Dr. Kushi that my PCP recommended. Even though my MD gave a referral (and I had been there before w/a different MD anyway and I was told it wasn't needed, PCP still sent referral anyway). Apparently, as my UHC card said 'navigate' on back of my insur card - this means that my PCP was supposed to put an 'electronic' referral in for me. I literally called my PCP from parking lot as she had never even heard of this. So here's my complaint - front desk would not help me, would not call my PCP for a stat e- referral, nothing; nothing except watch my eyes tear from pain, and me knowing it'd be this much longer to see a Rheumatologist now as I was about to have new insur per job change. They ate Oreo cookies, while me being 1/2 their sz, was wasting away, in pain with SLE. I had/have insurance, a very expensive plan. Though they turned me away w/no help, at all. 3 months later I finally have established care with new MD for the SLE (who also never heard of this navigate) - and will now be needing chemo due to this issue being untreated too long. Thank you, so much, really. I called to complain - officer manager J. hung up on me!! As she did not like me telling her that it should be the receptionists job to inquire about this 'navigate' thing when they obtain insur card info over phone when making appt's. I'm a pretty intellegent person (an extremely angry one now), but there's no way this place should expect pt's to know this kind of information themselves. Thank you again for your help - I don't know how they sleep at night. ** I'd give NO stars, but this site wouldn't allow me to enter w/o clicking at least one.

Recently began seeing Nichole ...

Recently began seeing Nichole Kieffer, DO for my rheumatoid arthritis. I can not say enough good things about her! She takes her time with me (spends close to an hour each apt), always on time, listens to my concerns, is easy to understand and explains things very well. She also gave me the BEST steroid shot I have ever received, virtually pain free!! Overall the clinic could use some updating but I highly highly recommend Dr. Kieffer.

I love my doctor

I have been a patient of Dr. Schrager for at least 15 years. Off all my doctors (and I have had many) he is the one who has provided continuity of care. We have a great rapport and I trust him. Once, when another doctor recommended an extremely invasive procedure I did not think I needed, I called him for his advice and was able to make an informed decision not to proceed. He personally returns my calls, and that in itself is unusual enough to impress. Another thing I really like about him is that he provides me with options, but I know that I am the one who makes the final decision.

I feel for the person whose wife lost her insurance coverage and was denied care. Its unfortunate that, ultimately, healthcare in this country is a business. I've been there, too.
