Great selection of guns. Only problem...a long wait and as Steven said, unless you are there to buy I felt they don't really want to talk with someone who isn't a gun fanatic, though I do own several guns. From the other reviews here this seems to be an ongoing problem. Too bad, they're only blocks away but I'm a lot more comfortable at some of the other places.

This is a descent store, prices are a little higher than surrounding gun shops but I tend to support the local small business. It is convenient and the staff is helpful.

Just did an FFL transfer with them and they were very helpful. They respond to their emails very quickly. Their transfer fee was fair at $25. I was in and out of the store in no more than 20 minutes. The store is very nice and they have a huge selection. If I was to purchase a gun locally, HVG would be my first stop. Thanks!

Let me start by saying, that HVG has an amazing selection of guns and a beautiful store. I have purchase 3 guns, and countless other things there. Ammo, Mag's, Etc without any problems, and pretty good service. So why the bad review?



Unless your there to purchase a gun, they don't want to be bothered with you. Stopped in to ask a question, and maybe get a professional opinion, and what I got was a couple guys who couldn't take 5 minutes to treat a loyal customer with respect. The reason I asked the question was to get a professional answer. If my question hit a nerve for one reason or another please keep it to yourself. One guy seemed so bothered he turned his back on me and walked in the back room. The question I asked was an intelligent one that I truly was looking for an answer. If they didn't have one They could have polity told me that.



FYI. The store was empty. I was not taking them away from other customers.



Just wanted to post my displeasure. In an economy like ours, there are plenty of other places willing to take my $ and treat me with respect.

Ed, Glad you asked for specifics, hope this helps. It was Sat. 6/15/13 @ 3:00 PM. Did have my 7 yr. old son with me but he was well behaved and liked looking at displays too. There were two people talking at counter to right near front, walked right by them but no commented or acknowledged. Three moe talking at very back counter, walked right by and none looked up, browsed for 5 minutes at counter to left of them where your Sig 1911 22's were, left after 5 minutes. walked right by all again on way out, no one said anything to me. I probably should have interrupted them but I teach my son not to interrupt people while they are talking and honestly expected someone to approach me, especially after looking / standing at same display case for 5 minutes.



As other reviewers stated, the store has a nice selection. However, good luck getting someone to wait on you to see it. I have gone there twice and both times left without anyone stepping up to assist me, or even addressing me. On last visit there were 4 employees talking with each other, I made eye contact 3 times and even nodded my head to let them know I would like to see something. No luck, they just kept talking about their last groupings at target practice. Guess I should have yelled at them but I guess I am just too old school and believe in CUSTOMER SERVICE. Too bad, I was ready to buy one of their Sig 1911's, but I'll find it somewhere else.

I bought a Beretta .40 Cal Compact here a few weeks ago. I got a great gun at a very reasonable price. I've been to many local gun shops and can honestly say that this shop has the largest inventory of guns in southeast Michigan. The staff is VERY knowledgable and will answer any questions and then some. I even received Free Tactical Gun Training from Ryan (Thanks Ryan). I felt like I should have paid for the time and knowledge that Ryan spent with me and my girlfriend today! - This is what a gun shop should be like!!! -

I am out of town working and I was interested to check out their inventory. I drove about an hour to get there and when I did, the staff was very rude. Nonetheless, I decided to purchase a shotgun that had caught my eye. They refused to sell it to me because they said they could not sell firearms to non Michigan residents. I explained to them that I had just purchased a rifle at Cabellas a couple of Weeks earlier. Without even bothering to look into it, they accused me of being a liar. They do not deserve any business.

Best gun shop in town. Great staff and great inventory. Even though they are 40 miles from home - it is my preferred place for my firearms. Brought my daughter in today and they helped her pick a great new Sig (her 1st pistol). Way to go Ed and staff!

They have a great inventory and pretty friendly staff. I personally think their appraiser isnt on point. Then after a short email from the owner Ed I thought we were moving forward but he just stopped responding to my email. So I would have to say I will take my business else where,which is a disappointment cause I was so excited to have a local gun shop. Not good business practice to ignore customers.
