Slow service, average to good food - but could reduce the salt levels - mediocre ambiance

I've ate there a few times and there was always great service and great food...when their busy i understand because i also am a waitress... the server came plenty of times to check on us apologizing about the wait...most people don't understand the fact that if the place is busy to be patient and not to get upset if the food comes out later than expected. Trust me i know how it feels and the way people react because i serve people. and what i don't get with the person with the first review is if your not patient honestly you can't go anywhere. Now think if you have 9 people and first if you are a "regular" then you should know that we don't take reservations and second its 9 people its not only you in the restaurant there are other people the servers and management have to worry about. Another thing i've not gone anywhere and seen a restaurant give a discount on any of the food or to take it off the tap, if the manager gave you free items that COST MONEY then just shut your mouth and accept it.

My husband and I try to have a date night twice a month. And most date nights are spent driving across town to eat sushi. We did a white pages search to find a local sushi bar and to our surprise found one within ten minutes from where we live. We thought, "Is this too good to be true..."? I had to write a review about this little sushi bar, Soya. The Sushi is fantastic, we also had the Teriyaki Chicken which was delicious, the restaurant was clean with a cozy atmosphere and the service was a breath of fresh air! And get this.. the prices were affordable as well! We both were so pleased with our experience at Soya, we look forward to becoming familiar faces there! To the owners and staff "Thank you!"

Absolutely the best place to go for sushi in the southside of Richmond. All of the sushi is fresh and overall GREAT tasting. The sushi chef is AMAZING. I feel like the wait staff could use alittle work though. Some of them do not have any knowledge in the sushi you are ordering, which makes things a bit more difficult at times. I've also had to sit around for awhile waiting on my check. Also, I would not recommend this place for a hibachi style dinner. They seem to overcook at times. Sushi though is DEFINATELY THEIR SPECIALTY (5 STARS ON THAT!)
