Loved my experience!!!! My mom and I joined a lovely tour guide named Stacy. My mom was nervous about riding, but Stacy provided great instruction. Both my mom and I very much enjoyed the experience. The staff is kind and friendly. The scenery is beautiful, but the best part is the two hours with my horse. The horses were beautiful, gentle, and playful animals. The barn, beach scenery, and ride provided a great taste of Aquidneck Island! Can’t wait to return for my next trail ride!!

Kamie is a great trainer but was unwilling to effectively manage a bullying situation between another girl and my daughter. No surprise, the other girl rode more often which translated into more $, so why would she be motivated to do the right thing? Instead, the message she was sending was clearly received: "act however you want, just as long as you spend money." Disappointing, to say the least...

My friends and I had an amazing time. The weather was amazing. We were able to see beautiful views of the beach. The horses was so well behaved and we trotted and walked along the road. The beach, sun and views were a great way to spend our trip to Rhode Island.

Visiting Newport for the first...

Visiting Newport for the first time from NJ and we thought this might be a fun way to spend an afternoon. We could not have been more disappointed with our decision.
Right from the start we should have known this was not kosher. From having to pay everything in cash upfront to NO CAMERAS ALLOWED!! Are you kidding?

I am not a person to write reviews however this was so bad I felt it was important to warn other people. Of course I am now finding similar reviews all over the place.
Stay as far away from this place as you can. They may promise you a lot of things but will deliver NONE.

Let me tell you why this place is simply awful. And if you couldn't get by the review directly beneath mine and the account used it's glaringly obvious that Suzanne Hourihan (who if you didn't see by their official website is one of the owners of the establishment itself), tried to make a good review to make her shoddy business seem better but failed to hide the name to make it convincing. And also given the fact that someone else who works there did such the same day, I digress to tell you all of my horrible experience there.

First off the place is a joke, the lack of pictures of the horses and barn itself on their website is because if you were to actually go there, you'd see that the barn is completely falling apart. As someone who worked there for a couple months helping out, (might I add for no pay), because the deluded reasoning is you get paid purely by leading trail rides, and there were never any given to me. I was basically doing very good horse work for no pay, and the disorganization and dysfunction of this barn is completely astounding.

There is NO communication within this place whatsoever, and there were times that among many of the things that were broken around the property a fence to another neighbor's house was knocked down by one of the horses. No one failed to see this as an issue until one of the neighbors came out to tell them, because one of the ponies was eating the grass from their yard.

The beach trail rides may be nice, but you're mostly on the road and it's not very impressive overall. The fact they can use 3rd beach FOR trail rides in Newport is the ONLY thing going for them, if any.

It's generally a place of no one helping each other out. Kammy's one of the instructors and really the only cool one of the bunch who has more of an idea of what she's doing. Suzanne on the other hand does not. When you work for both of them, one says one thing contradicting the other. So when you're told one thing, you might be told to do another thing from the mother or daughter that's entirely different.

It's a confusing and convoluted situation despite that no one knows what the heck they are doing. The place is a dump, there's no structure of how to go about the barn, and if you think you want to help them out by doing barnwork I highly recommend you don't. You wont get any money for it and it'll end up being more of a frustration than an enjoyment.

In all Newport Equestrian is not all that's cracked up to be in nice reviews and minimal photos on their website. But all the ones you'll see are them at the beach, even if the real lessons that aren't 2 hour trail rides are taken within the property itself.

I'm honestly surprised this place isn't shut down yet.

I’m shocked to see so many people not finding the beach trail rides impressive.

I have tried Newport Equestrian’s beach trail tours multiple times and it has become my favorite outdoor recreation spot. But I am shocked to see so many negative comments from people saying they had a very bad experience. I don’t know if they are talking about NE or some other place because their tours are very admirable. I have recommended this place to so many people and their service is just great.

We found this place when we are visiting the beach last year. I was instantly fascinated by the beautiful horses and booked myself in the beach trail tour. I think my spontaneity paid off because I loved the entire two hour long tour to the Second Beach where I was quite mesmerized by the gorgeous scenery. I was with five other people on the tour and some of them were small children under 10 years. They were being trained by our guide who was very sweet. I’m planning to visit again next week and this will be my 5th time.

The horseback beach ride was quite fun. My kids were thrilled to try it out and they had a ball here. I missed my wife. She was away for a business trip, but when she comes back, I’m definitely taking her for this beach trail tour. The ride itself was amazing, but my kids enjoyed being with the horses in the barn. I remember my kids telling me later that the horses were soft. Haha. I think they really loved being around their well-groomed horses.

Our tour guide was very helpful. She trained my little ones to ride a horse. I was really impressed with the instructions she gave to my children as they were able to take control of their horses on their own. And as for my experience, I really enjoyed the two hour long beach trail ride to the Second Beach. The ride to this beach was packed with exquisite views of the surroundings, especially the St. George’s Castle on the hilltop.

I’m writing this for Kammy. She is such an inspiring and humble person. She is the reason that I have become a regular visitor of this place. I have spent a lot of time at her barn and she has kept her horses in great condition. What I love about the beach trail tours is that I get to enjoy the breathtaking views of the beach, especially the St. George’s Castle. It is a beauty to look at the castle from the shore.

I have had my horse here for years and the care and training are great. All the horses are always fat and happy. Kammy is a wonderful trainer and you will not find anyone to compare to her for lessons in the area. She takes beginners, with care, and makes them into confident advanced riders. When we are out of the ring and out on trail rides we have the most fun! The horses are safe and seasoned professionals. I would highly recommend Newport Equestrian!

Great Trainer

Even though I read these reviews the trainer Kammy is great. My daughter use to ride there about three years ago, she has going to different barns and tryed different trainers and no one taught my daughter like Kammy. The barn is like a big family once you get to know everone. If lessions are what you are looking for go there, you will love the trainer.

stay away

I rode here a long time ago and the people were corrupt and would sucker tourist into trail rides. I recently came across someone who recently had an absolutely terrible experience there. Apparently they are still over-working their horses, ripping off people, and from what I gather the place is now even more run-down than it used to be. If I could offer any advice - steer anyone you care about away from that horse prison.
