Dr. LaCorte was horrible! He cursed in front of patients. He took phone 2 phone calls (on speakerphone!) in a conference room with myself, my cousin, his nurse and hospice representatives for my mother and discussed the 2 patients issues in front of all of us! That must be a HIPPA violation! He is the epitome of unprofessionalism! He told us that we had 2 choices for my mother’s care since he refused to sign her into hospice care. He said that she could either be put into a nursing home or I could stop feeding her and just allow her to die. She had Parkinson’s and a feeding tube because she couldn’t swallow enough to sustain herself, but she could still speak at that point, interact with family and friends and she definitely was cognizant of what was going on around her. I told him neither of those were options as I would never put her in a nursing home, nor would I stop feeding her because that would be murder. Once I told him that, his attitude changed as if he had no use for my mother or any of us because he realized that he couldn’t profit off of us. I can only imagine the life altering bad advice that he has given to grief stricken, innocent and naive patients and their families over the years. He should be stripped of his license to practice medicine in any form.

I went there circa 2015. I am used to Ochsner, which has excellent service. My experience at this place was just plain weird. Some might say it was "old school," in that things were quite relaxed and informal. But they went beyond that. First they had me with a nurse practitioner who asked me hundreds of questions, of which she wrote everything down--she appeared to fill out a third of a Mead notebook. This took about an hour. Then the doctor came and asked me a couple of quick questions like we were former college drinking buddies. "So what's up?" "If you've always gone to Ochsner, why the hell are you coming here?" "High blood pressure, huh? Looks like we gonna have to do a full electrocardiogram on you today. I hope you've got the whole afternoon free, because this is gonna take awhile."

The doctor spent about seven minutes with me. Adding up the paperwork, the waiting, the nurse practitioner, the heart-monitoring machine, and the paying, I felt like I spent 2 % of the two to three hours with the doctor.

They set up me up for a follow-up visit. I called back and told them some falsehood like, "I'm sorry I can't make it to the next visit, I'll either be dead or living in a witness-protection program in Morocco."

I don't usually lie, but sometimes one has to take extreme measures.
