Mesquite Friendship Baptist Church is a Southern Baptist Church started by a core of five ( 5 ) families who were meeting at Town East Baptist Church at 3113 Town East Blvd. in Mesquite, Texas. On May 8, 1991, the charge of leading the organization of this work was given to Rev. Terry M. Turner, an associate minister of the Rock of Faith Baptist Church in Duncanville, Texas. This group, along with others who desired to begin an African-American church, worked with the Southern Baptist Convention ( SBC ) and began their work in the shopping center located at LaPrada and John West in Dallas, Texas. Town East Baptist Church made a commitment to sponsor this effort as an extension work and SBC made a commitment to sponsor a new mission work.
