I have been using this Pinch A penny for the last 2 years now. The service I have received from this location has been nothing short of great. I had an issue with my pool pump on a Sunday and the owner of the Merritt Island store came to my house and diagnosed the pump. He even informed me that the pump will last longer and that it could last a lot longer. He also stated that the store was having a sale and that the new pump would be significantly less if I waited until the sale to purchase the pump. Also, I purchased the pool filter from them at another sale they were having. I drive a lot farther to use this location due to their outstanding customer service, friendly atmosphere, great prices, and lastly their knowledgable sales people. Even a little thing like them loading new bottles of chlorine into my vehicle shows me how important customer satisfaction is to this team.

Whatever happened in that last review I find VERY HSRD TO BELIEVE. These people I have used for 30 years and they are ethically above reproach. I have used them for repairs to my spa and pool, and for chemicals. They are wonderful people, too, not just competent. I recommend them very highly.

Terrible!

I wish I had seen this review before I used the very same Pinch a Penny store. Where is Dateline when you need them? They quoted me a price of 399 for a replacement job and magically when they arrived and did a half hours worth of work and sized up our house and cars, they magically came up with the final price of FIVE HUNDRED AND FIFTY DOLLARS.

These people are scumbags.

After moving into a house with a pool, we decided to take our water to this store weekly for testing and take care of it ourselves. These people have been nothing but helpful. Every one of the employees has been friendly, and has offered helpful tips. Since the automatic pool cleaner conveyed with the house, it was old, and we had no idea what work if any had been done on it before. But it definitely was not working well. We talked to them about it and they said they could look at it and call us with an estimate before working on it. It turned out that it had work done previously, but parts were put in incorrectly (which damaged them). We were told it would be around $90 to repair. We asked them if it was worth it on a cleaner that old. They said there was no need to buy a new one and it was worth it to fix this one. I went to pick it up 2 days later, and it cost me $90 and change. While I was there, I talked to another employee about getting a new hose for the cleaner since we had a few that were cracked. He was very knowledgable and recommended changing all the hoses at the same time, and explained that they usually last 2 and a half to 3 years, depending on water chemistry and whether or not you have a pool enclosure. Okay, so getting the box of hoses was probably better. (Ours were quite old, and our pool is not enclosed). Then he said, "Don't get them today though. They go on sale in a few days. Come back on the 18th and get your pool supplies."

Additionally, when you walk in the door with an empty chlorine jug, before you can say "hi", someone is headed towards you with a full one asking if your car is unlocked! I have had nothing but good experiences with this location.

By the way, the repaired pool cleaner is acting like it is brand new!
