Great atmosphere and service. Everything I ate was splendid. We had one of our best meals ever, and that's saying a lot because we are real foodies. Love this restaurant!

Extremely poor service

I don't usually write reviews, but I feel so strongly about this experience, I have to share.

I had made reservations for this restaurant more than a week in advance for large group in one of their private areas. They called me about 30-45 minutes before we were to arrive to let me know they had given my space away and would have to sit us somewhere else. I was told that we could sit in the back near the bar in a booth. After letting the person on the phone know this was not acceptable, the manager got on the phone to tell me that this was the best she could do. After I got upset and asked her why they would wait until less than an hour before our reservations to call me, she said she would try to see about moving some people around, but only if all people in my party were present exactly on time. I don't know why she kept saying this, as if she figured she was going to be late. After expressing my anger, I called the rest of the party and everyone decided it would be best to go somewhere else. I believed if we went to this restaurant, they would still sit us in the booths where everyone would be separated. The next week, I received a call from a man at the restaurant who asked me why we didn't show up and what happened. As I began to explain what happened, he told me he already knew what happened because he was standing next to the manager while she was talking to me and that what I was telling him was not true and I left them with those empty seats. I don't know what his purpose of calling me was, but it obviously was not to rectify a problem or to find out why we didn't come for dinner. After I told him I wasn't going to get upset by arguing with someone else at this restaurant, he simply told me "It is what it is." And he's absolutely right. The fact remains that they are very unprofessional and lost quite a bit of money from my group on that night and in the future. I would never recommend this place to anyone I know.

great atmosphere

The ambiance is great and the food is wonderful. I had an artichoke and spinach pizza and my friend had a whole garlic chicken. Everything on the menu was of great value. I would recommend this for special or casual occasions. The service was friendly and professional. Our table was fabulous right near the front window. Great place.

Prior to attending RIVERDANCE ...

Prior to attending RIVERDANCE at the Orpheum, my wfe and I enjoyed an outstanding dining experience at the Majestic.

Beginning with, Cornmeal-Crusted Calamari appetizer; lightly crisp crust, gently seasoned and soft flavorful calimari bites. Superb. Chili that left your palate with a definite afterglow. Authentic, flavorful and wow! Mixed Greens Salad; greens straight from the garden with a light, sparkling vinagrette dressing. This course was accompanied by a basket of steaming hot, fresh baked rolls and rich whipped butter. Aroma, texture, taste, just like home-made.

We selected the Roast pork Loin and the Sauteed Trout Almondine from the Pre-Theatre Menu. The pork loin was done to perfection, moist, tender and gently flavored with a pan gravy. It was accompanied by a potato "hash, so flavorful it threatened to overshadow the loin. Trout Almondine; crispy skin, moist flaky flesh, accompanied with stir fried green beans and rice. Heavenly!

"Shot Glass" Desserts, Key Lime Pie and Tiramisu, they left you wanting more. A fitting end to a grand meal.

Ambiance: casual elegance.

Service: Prompt, professional and polite. Alexandria was very personable, helpful and fun. The meal presentation was flawless.

Location: Easy walking to The FEDEX Forum, The Orpheum Theatre, Beale Street and the Peabody.

Reservations are a must.

We are eagerly anticipating returning to The Majestic to explore the full menu.
