In 1976 Grace House was started in midtown Memphis at 329 N. Bellevue by Pat Stokes. It began as a "safe house" for alcoholic women who were trying to get sober. Since that time, it has grown and transformed into a reputable long term residential alcohol and drug treatment center, with a halfway house and extended care programs. We are licensed by the Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities, accredited by CARF, and a United Way agency. Throughout the years the purpose has remained the same ; addressing the needs of women who are trying to reclaim their lives from the devastating effects of chronic alcohol and drug abuse. Our primary sources of funding include block grant funds from the State of Tennessee, United Way, Access to Recovery and the City of Memphis. We also rely on private donations and agency fundraising. Any adult female suffering from a substance abuse problem and or co-occurring disorders who has a sincere desire to overcome her problem and has no severe medical complications may be admitted. Pregnant women and female IV drug users are given priority.
