Dr. Baum was born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela. During his childhood years Dr. Baum also lived in New York. He is fluent in Spanish and English. He completed a 7 year combined M.D. program at The Universidad Central de Venezuela School of Medicine in '92, graduating in the top 15% of his class. Dr. Baum moved to New Orleans, Louisiana in 1995 and completed his Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine in '98 and a Gastroenterology Fellowship in '01 both at Tulane University Health Sciences Center. Dr. Baum also trained in Endosonography (EUS) at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania prior to joining the faculty of Tulane University Medical School as Assistant Professor of Medicine for three years prior to going into private practice in New Orleans. He is a member of the AGA, ASGE and ACG. Dr. Baum relocated to Memphis in 2007 to join Memphis Gastroenterology Group, now Gastro One.
