I do NOT recommend McGann Termite and Pest Control Company. I prepaid for 6 months of monthly pest control service and the company refuses to service my home. I spoke directly with the owner Terry McGann, this man is a real piece of work. He was't interested in helping me, and cursed at me over the phone. I do not recall ever being treated this way by any professional business ever. This company should be avoided.

Do not use McGann's! They have treated our house two times for bedbugs. The first time was the upstairs, then a member of the family got bites while she was sleeping downstairs. We paid them once again to come and treat the house for the second time. Also, we were informed that if there is still evidence of bedbugs within a month of being treated, they will spray the same rooms again for free. When I called Them for a third time, the owner told us that even if there are bites (three bites in a row - breakfast, lunch and dinner - which is how bedbugs feed), they will not spray for free unless they actually see the bugs. But when we gave McGann's the first call and showed them bites, they were quick to take our money.

Also, when we called them the third time complaining about how there are still bugs in our home, the owner Terry Mcgann was argumentative and hung up the phone. They are refusing to come out here and inspect our home, which shouldn't have to be done if they treated it correctly in the first place. If you have bedbugs and you want to get rid of them, don't bother to call McGann's.

This guy is a flat out crook in my honest opinion... I used to work for him, I know first hand of his less than ethical business practices. Ive worked for a few other pest control companies in the past and he is driven purely on greed in my opinion. He mainly does apartment complexes. He would NOT allow me to properly treat customers homes. It was put bait behind the cabinet doors and lets go, and hope they get tired of calling back. God forbid you had bedbugs, youd have a better chance asking them nicely to go away. Im a 26 year old young man with no one to depend on, and yet the man has me drain my savings account, only to make me practically beg for the gas money which he said he'd cover. I wondered why he couldn't find any employees, then it made sense. He stiffed me on my last check of about 800$+ and use my own truck to drive to from Hampton to Richmond everyday. ( never mentioned the commute initially) When he said he'd provide a vehicle to commute with, it never happened. He also never did any type of back ground check or employment paper work.( For which I asked him numerous times) Now I am an upstanding citizen of course, but what if I were a rapist, or child abductor? I surely wouldn't want some one alone in my home who has not been properly vetted with my wife or children. I can only assume this man is dodging the IRS, the virginia dept. of agriculture (who handles pesticide licensing) and im sure a few customers as well. he even had the nerve to cuss out my mother, after asking politely and cordially for the paycheck that i had EARNED, i wrote him off. she attempted to contact terry mcgann and hopefully get my check. this man had the nerve to use some of the most foul language you can imagine to the nicest, most wonderful woman youd ever meet. never in my life have i come across a shadier more dishonest conman than terry mcgann. in my opinion this man is morally, mentally, ethically, and hopefully financially bankrupt. biggest conman ive ever met.

Mcgann's Termite & Pest Co...

Mcgann's Termite and Pest Control company poorly treated my home for termites. The reason I say poorly is because: 1) I still have termites. 2) While treating crawl space, they pulled up the poly/plastic that was covering the ground for my homes moisture barrier. I discovered this 6 months later and; I noticed slight effects of moisture problems in my insulation and floor joist. 3) The stoop/brick steps were never treated. This is a problem area for termites according to McGann's and; 3 other companies. 4) They never drilled the exterior of my attached garage, the area they knew had termites. 5) They did drill the floor in my garage but holes shouldn't exceed 12 inchest; theirs are more like 24 inches apart. 6) They never rodded the ground but dug a trench around my home maybe 3 inches deep. Most companies suggest using rods to inject the chemical into the ground. 7) They used less than 50 gals. of chemical, when my home should have needed 80 -100 gals. to treat. We had 4 different pest control companies, McGann's included, come out and inspect our home. No damage was found. We became fairly educated about termites treatment after discussing treatment with so many companies. I constantly questioned the treatment I received from McGann's but was assured that we wouldn't have anymore problems with termites. 6 months after treatment, I found live termites in my garage eating on wood and celotex. I contacted 2 pest control companies (not McGann's) to come out and inspect. Both companies informed me that the treatment I received from Mcgann's was unsatisfactory and thats why I still had termites. I then contacted the owner of McGann's about my findings. He immediately got defensive, threatened me with laywers and hung up the phone. Now he will not answer or return my phone calls.
